The renaming of a file outside of lightroom is fine when when you are changing just a few files but if you get into changing names of hundred or more remember you have to go back into lightroom and one by one tell Lightroom where each new file is. A rather tedious job which in this case is much simpler when done in Lightroom
Running Win7 on a mac using Parallels --- Microsoft detected that i was running win7 and allowed me to install Win10 for free. To tell you the truth there are a couple of reasons I still use windows
1. There are a couple of programs that still run better or do not exist on Mac. Quicken for one is available for Mac but certain info on windows doesn't get transferred over even the new 2016 version. I have been using quicken for twenty years so the info is important to me. Another program Paperport is non existent on OS X.
2. I just like to stay informed on the new os so as to help friends and family when they have a problem.
Thats not true after updating after updating from Mavericks to el Capitan. Parallels has just needed a free update to handle the new OS. Of course like any other program when a product undergoes a significant upgrade then you have to pay
Thanks Rich here are a couple of pics I took of my sons new kitten Waffles
What's the best resolution and quality of jpegs for upload. It seems that Uhh doesn't auto downsize. My originals would not go through
i tried to send a few pics from lightroom. what resolution and jpeg quality does the site recommend, mine were to large to upload

a similar lens to the 18-200 dx would be the 28 - 300mm fx lens. After having both the 28 -300 is a great walk around lens for your d800. i use it on my d810 and am very satisfied with its IQ and sharpness
the only reason your getting crops that cut out parts of your picture is because the preset crops that lightroom has (5,7,8x10,etc) don't reflect the actual aspect ratio of your original picture which is a 12x8 scenario. when resizing something has to be cut out to match the original size from the camera sensor
i have used envelops for a few years. Have had no problem with them. I chose these the 2400 ma/hour version. The advantage of enelopes is that they hold 85 percent of there charge for up to a year others lose their charge much sooner. when you have quite a few in your camera bag it help not having to recharge everything before a photo shoot
