I went with the canon for 2 reasons. There is no sharp ridge on the right side of the back of the canon like Nikon and my finger just falls on the shutter button (less movement).
I did see an over priced Nikon D300s with a larger zoom lens at another pawn shop. They wanted $1000 for it. I offered them $500 and would you believe they turned down my offer :P
Thanks. This is a "starter" camera for me. Maybe in a couple of years or so, I will upgrade to a better camera. But then again, I am not taking photos every weekend, only as I need them.
Thanks. It looks like a made a good choice. I asked the Lord to help me make the right decision. So I give him all of the credit.
These were taken with the camera. The bottom picture is Sissy. She is 10 years old. She is a spoiled rotten to the core daddy's baby. This is the last picture taken. Can anyone use it to try and get a shutter count? I have tried but have not been able to get it.
I found a Canon EOS Rebel XTi with 3 Canon lens, uv filter, electric charger, 2 batteries, owners manual, 3 compact flash (, cables, camera bag and card reader. It was priced at $299.99. They were having a 20% off sale on cameras. I got the out the door for $260 dollars.
It has the EF-S 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6II lens,
the EF 75-300mm 1:4-5.6 II lens, and
the Bower MC7 2X C/AFI tele-converter lens from Japan.
I have no idea about the shutter count. Everything seems to work. These two photos were taken with my phone camera.
Mr. Bill: thanks for your concern. I decided to not buy the T1i camera from Craig's list. I found a camera at a local pawn shop. I think that I got a good deal on it. I will start a new post on it.
Thanks for the information. I turned down his offer and I will not accept it. I also did not get the T1i camera from Craig'slist. I found a camera this morning at a local pawnshop that was a pretty good deal (I think). I hope it was. I will start a new post about.
What would a Canon 40D with a low shutter count (less than 7000 count), power pak, a Tokina pro 28-80 f2.8 lens be worth?
I am thinking that the camera package would be roughly worth $700 dollars. Maybe $800 at the max.
I have a higher end pcp air rifle that I want to sell for $1000 dollars. The person wanted to trade the camera package for the rifle. I turned him down. I am selling the rifle because I found a different rifle that I want.
I am also looking at buying this camera for $350.

Right now I only need one camera. So I am trying to make the best decision. Thanks Ken

Yes, it is not a bad deal for $350.00.
I don't understand your question about the lens. All Canon lenses are manufactured overseas. Just because it is referred to as a kit lens does not make it a bad lens! If you are asking if it is an "L" quality lens it is not. All "L" lenses are F lenses designed for FF cameras. Canon made 3 versions of that lens and all are EF-S lenses meaning they were made for crop sensor cameras which the T1i is. For the price I don't think you could beat it.

Thanks for your post. Since I am still learning, I was thinking the kit lens was a cheaper lower grade of lens and that the quality of the pictures would not be as good. I am slowly learning better.
I want to think everyone for your response and helpful information.

What about the kit bag...or the kit charger?
A canon bag and a charger is included.
How can I tell the difference between a higher quality Canon lens verse the kit lens?
I found a Canon T1i for sale. The comes with the 18-55 mm lens (came with the camera), $400 dollar after market 55-250 mm lens, $150 Canon camera bag, tripod charger instruction manual, remote picture, and usb plug.
The seller bought it for a trip and took approx. 250 photos with it. She said that she filled up 1 card and 1/2 of another card. She is selling to help her son.

She said that she would be willing to go $350 for everything. I will be able to look at it tomorrow.
Can you tell if the 55-250 lens is an actual Canon lens of higher quality or could it be a kit lens from overseas?
Is this a good deal? Thanks Ken

Walmart is closing OUT the T3 and selling what they may have left for 239 bucks...
NEW !
I could not find the T3 for $239 anywhere. Walmart has a T3 bundle with one lens for $299.
The link that is given is for a refurbished camera, not a new one.
