What's it worth?

What would a Canon 40D with a low shutter count (less than 7000 count), power pak, a Tokina pro 28-80 f2.8 lens be worth?

I am thinking that the camera package would be roughly worth $700 dollars. Maybe $800 at the max.

I have a higher end pcp air rifle that I want to sell for $1000 dollars. The person wanted to trade the camera package for the rifle. I turned him down. I am selling the rifle because I found a different rifle that I want.

I am also looking at buying this camera for $350.

Right now I only need one camera. So I am trying to make the best decision. Thanks Ken

Check these for used:
B&H: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/
Adorama: http://www.adorama.com/
Cameta: http://www.cameta.com/
KEH: http://www.keh.com/

A quick check shows B&H - has a couple: $219 no lens / $349 with a 18-55 lens

That's what I always do. You can check search for Sold items, and you'll see what people have actually paid.

And now you face the age-old dilemma Mr. Ken - the difference between what it's worth and what people will pay. The second is always lower than the first.

Thanks for the information. I turned down his offer and I will not accept it. I also did not get the T1i camera from Craig'slist. I found a camera this morning at a local pawnshop that was a pretty good deal (I think). I hope it was. I will start a new post about.

The $350 sounds much more reasonable for that camera. $800 I think would be waaaayyy too much!

The $800 dollars is in reference to a 40D that guy wanted to trade for a pcp air rifle that I have.

The $350 dollars was the price for a T1i that I decided to not buy.
I found a different used Canon camera for $260 dollars out the door. This is the one that I bought.

40D body only in this area are $300-$400. I paid that for mine almost four years ago. I would think both would sell more in the range of $400-$500 max.

I have (and use) a 40D and figure its market value is about $300, which is why I don't sell it. It still takes great pics, especially in broad daylight. Some day it will make a good donation. I'll never be able to sell it for what it's worth.
