Poor "bring." It's the illegitimate child of the word family. For some reason, people prefer using the word "take." "Take" means to take hold of something, as in "Take One." "Bring" means to take something and carry it to another place, as in, "Take one of these and bring it home." I wonder why people prefer "Take" so much.

I can imagine some interesting responses to this.

You are using “take” to define take… now we are really confused!

We have floor to ceiling huge full length mirrors in the Studio where the talent can study their pose dynamic in real-time. Kelsey soon learn how to use them effectively... It fact Richard Avedon deployed a huge mirror directly behind his camera when shooting in his studio... I took his lead here Julian and duplicated same... The model's LOVE it!

btw I just did a maternity shoot with a former Agency Model who decided at the last minute she wanted "High Key" renderings... And she missed having those mirrors... Well, those mirrors are massive and weight too much to move around like Post-It Notes.
btw, we managed to pull it off anyway with some arm waving and verbal coaching.

Below is one of the Concept Images by © Igor D on flickr... It's from a NYC Fashion Editorial Photographer. The best of the best gravitate toward NYC... Why? It's where all the major advertising agencies are located. Funny how Money changes everything.

Hope this helps or is at least food for thought.
Again thanks so much for your very kind words Julian

Interesting about the mirrors and obviously very effective. You work is really high class; I always take the time to study hoy posts.

Voigtlander APO-SKOPAR 90mm f/2.8

I wanted a lens longer than the 50mm I already have for my Leica M11. I debated with myself between 70mm and 90mm and finally decided on this.
I got it for Documentary and Landscape/Seascape photography, but it is small enough for long range street photography as well.

Why not the magnificent APO Summicron f/2 90mm?

The Andes is pretty broad as there is a large part of Colombia in the Andes.
Having lived all over the country for many years and not knowing anything more than Andes I believe your choices of lenses will be absolutely excellent. Dump the 50mm unless you are totally enamored with it.
The 10-18mm will be great for villages and cities where spaces can be quite tight. The 18-400mm will be a great choice for your all the time on the camera lens and allow for fast reaction to amazing things happening there.
If there is space for the 150-600mm then by all means bring it along and leave the 1.4X converter home unless again you have space and really want to bring it. Tripod will be good if there is time and easily carried and totally out of your way as you walk, if you are walking.
Your son will be a great source of where to go and where not to due to anti government forces in control.
Colombia is amazingly diverse and beautiful and sounds like you are going about it the right way by an actual resident and not some canned tour. The campesino busses will be amazing and take you most anywhere you will want to go in cluding trains if desired.
Enjoy and have fun.

Do you mean Dual pixel AF? Tricky but effective.

I am considering buying a new Windows powered laptop and find that they still offer them with Windows 10 installed rather than Windows 11. I have also heard rumors that Windows 11 is not that great and wonder which way I should go on this purchase. Frankly, I'm still using Windows 7 on my current laptop, but it never sees the internet anymore and hasn't for quite some time and think it's time for an overall upgrade. So, what's the scoop on Windows 10 verses Windows 11? Any insightful information and/or feedback on this subject would be greatly appreciated!

These are very good, but personally, I would try something other than looking straight down at them. That way I think you would get more of a 3-dimentional look. Just my personal opinion & suggestion.

I agree. As good as these images are, they look basically "flat". A slight tilt of the camera would add the needed three-dimensional look.

Hello Julian,

I do not walk around my neighbor's garden. Typically I have set up either on the side walk or at times on the street.

With the Shake Reduction feature in the k-7, I am able to dispense with a tripod. I do have to use a rollator

walker with a padded seat, so that helps as far as getting a sharp image. The final focal length is as stated above.

Thanks very much for your questions. :))

Tony

Thank you for your reply. Got it: focal length 125mm. Amazing sharpness at 1/30s. Good work.

It would be interesting to know whether you walk around your neighbor's garden carrying a tripod, monopod or you simply hand-hold your camera at 1/30s speed. What was the final focal length?
