Plenty of black birds stopping by my feeder they can eat everything in short order. One Cedar Wax wing showed up but didn’t stay very long, not a bird that I see that often in the area where I live in Central Florida on west coast.

Thank you for your comments. I am having a great time photographing birds since retiring 5 years ago, its like fishing you never know what you might find or if a shot will turn out to be a keeper.

Finally made it to the park on a bright sunny day and had a good day photographing birds as I walked through the woods.

Cardinals and Bluejays are abundant around my feeder. The Bluejays are a little weary of movement around the feeder, diving in to grab a bite and flying away.

I have lived in Florida all my life and after 71 years I find out Bluejays pick Fresh acorns off of oak trees and haul them to a hiding place and stash them away. The fact that I have a pretty sharp eye for animals in the woods has led me to some pretty exciting photos, never paid that much attention until the camera bug bit me.

Thank you I do appreciate your comment. Makes me think I may be doing better with my pictures. My backgrounds are fading due to winter and heavy foliage falling off allowing a lot of back light, I don’t have a lot of room here to play with but experimenting with some sort of artificial background as you can tell with woodpecker.

i am getting a pretty good variety of birds at my feeders since the cool down here in Florida the smaller birds, especially the ones you have to chase with your camera. I have a woodpecker that has fallen in love with the nuts in the feeder keeps coming back and forth 3 or 4 times. Had a Jay bring his acorn drop in feeder eat some bird food pick up his acorn and leave. Living in Florida all my life and never realized that Blue Jays gather acorns off of oak trees and hide them for later consumption until I started taking pictures. Proof is in the pictures two different parks two different birds.

I could not get a Blue Jay within 50 ft of my feeders, if they got wind I was close by they were gone. I finally found some bird seed they just can’t resist. Jays were in the Crepe Myrtle trees this morning dive bombing the feeders and flying back to a tree then returning for more, they didn’t pay a whole lot of attention to me as long as I kept a low profile and moved slow. I let them get hooked on the feed before I started photographing them.

I have bought several different types of bird seed one that seems to be a favorite for all birds is Pennington Select Birders Blend has a picture of a Cardinal on front of it, bought it at Walmart. I just started using the Pennington seed and I have had more birds than ever coming to feeder. Blue jays like anything with nuts in it.

I have found out after taking thousands of photos that if your shooting hand held shots with a telephoto lens focal distance and shutter speed along with a rock steady technique of holding the camera while taking the picture are essential for a nice crisp picture. I am not a expert by no means but learning the hard way has taught me to focus on those three things which has helped improve my percentage of sharp pictures before post processing. I am retired and practice everyday trying to improve my photos, lots of fun and always the photo that didn’t turn out as good as you hoped it would.

I have quite a few Cardinals visiting my feeders. Some beautiful young cardinals that sit in the trees waiting there turn to approach the feeder which makes for some nice pictures. I also made a perch next to the feeder which and coax them to it by drilling holes in branch and placing seed in it works very nice.

Thank you, he is a miniature Yorkshire Terrier named Cooper. He is spoiled rotten, all my kids are gone and he is our last baby. He is 4 years old and weighs almost 5 pounds. Thanks for your kind words about my pictures. I am learning everyday since I have retired I get up early go outside around my bird feeders and start experimenting with my camera it’s been to hot outside here in Florida to travel to the parks looking for birds and animals. I will wait until it cools down then more birds should be around.
