Growing your plant indoors subjected it to blue light through the shaded window which signals many plants to grow tall or elongate cells to perhaps competitively reach more light. The same plant in the sun will grow a thick and sturdy stem responding to full spectrum and be much shorter. Your picture is an amazing example of growth.

There is often a question of which camera to buy on this site, but I suspect that much of the value in a new camera is tied to the software interpreting what the glass has collected. I decided against the temptation to upgrade my Cannon 5D mark III because of what I noticed in Topaz AI Gigapixel. When I tried to process a camera phone image in AI Clear which is an outstanding product I observed a problem created on edges with zagged lines. I had noticed that those kinds of problems disappear when enlargements are made with AI Gigapixel which is an amazing product also. By running AI Gigapixel first, a clean image with amazing clarity came from a simple phone camera adding the use of Topaz AI Clear and software. Topaz offers regular workshops and discounts to tempt you to accumulate their products. I have found customer service to be excellent.

Maybe it is time to justify an upgrade in processing equipment to be able run one of the several amazing programs from either PS, Topaz, OnOne or others to just enjoy the potential for creativity. Good used equipment is available, but with the frequent increase in computer processing speed and sophisticated software our pocket books and minds are both going to be constantly challenged. Good enough pictures for most can come from free software so the decision to chase the latest and greatest is a choice.

The problem is a festering sore among several that are polarizing this country and the answer lies in the old statement if you aren't part of the solution you are part of the problem. It is not a benign gesture to kneel during the national anthem. It is a polarizing gesture encouraging prejudice. If you had a flat tire would you flip a finger at the neighbor hoping to get a ride to work? Put your mind, wealth and effort into a problem and then reach out for a helping hand. The liberal attitude of getting a handout because you exist is a failing socialist concept both economically and spiritually. We desperately need to find positive activity and solutions for young people in populated areas. The protest is about a fragment of a larger problem of the massive shift of population from rural working production to congested city working services. Perhaps protests have been taught to liberal children as they threw tantrums until someone else solved their problem. Protests do allow the tail to wag the dog on occasion, right or wrong as most of the protestors probably don't have all the information on both sides of an issue. As for the NFL, the protestors have shown me that I had a lot I was neglecting in work and entertainment if I watched their games. I am really not sure just what they really wanted help with, but they managed to offend me and I have never been one to put up with a tantrum.

There're lots of fun posts on this great photo, but is there a chance you would allow individuals to repost this image with serious discussion on , "go forth and multiply", education and aid to foreign countries discussing reproductive choices, finite resources, agricultural nutrient depletion and health, environmental stress and pollution, illegal immigration and economic burdens, Finding solutions for people in place to avoid the problems of migration etc. We are in serious need for solutions, not politics, news cast emotional outbursts and new age socialist solutions. I have experienced population change from 150 million citizens into today and have watched many unspoken freedoms go away such as the almost absence of no trespassing and laws to the recent attempt in IDAHO to make trespassing a felony and a $1000 fine.

Photoshop is very effective, but I am a fan of ON1 resize for the simplicity and results. The ON1 system is very well thought out and getting better every year.

I have a friend who repaired cameras. After one day on calm Oregon beach, he took his camera apart to clean it and could not believe how much had filtered into it. A simple solution that has worked for me is to use a ziplock bag with a small opening opposite the normal closure and stretched tight onto the front of the lens. Now I just use a waterproof camera for snapshots.

Thanks for sharing an outstanding retouch tutorial. Portrait Pro is great if you are cautious with face sculpt, mouth, etc. and your subject is flattered by looking slightly posterized like someone else who is younger. I am amazed at the many tools that are in photoshop and how the first photographer discovered how to use them. The really great photographers stand out because of dedicated experience with software used on skilled capture. Digital has created in some ways the same problem that the discovery of photography caused for sketch artists. People do their own thing now even if it does not often come up to a professional level. We can all cheat like the old masters in adding or subtracting to their pinhole painting, but the masters are still the, "masters".

The only value to a person performing retouching for portraiture would be to make a quick proof set. I have not yet seen software that can produce better results than good old Photoshop, particularly when it comes to retaining skin texture and tiny tiny facial flaws - essential to avoid the "mannequin" look. Software applies a "sledgehammer" to the details that make a face look real. I have spent as much as 90 mins doing a single face (bad makeup artist) for a fashion retouch. I used to do these for a photographer friend.

As John suggested, frequency is a must have technique and skill. Other skills are non-destructive Dodge and Burn, Liquify, selections and masking for applying a host of effects to local areas, etc.

This website proved to be an amazing source of information from working retouching professionals.

Here is an excellent facial retouch, done correctly. It is an excellent illustration of how to use FreqSep to address shine, uneven skin color, etc.

You can't get results with Portrait Pro or any other "easy" software. But you will get fast amateurish results, at least to a discerning eye.

The young generation for the most part can't remember why those things were important. There are
expectations of more entitlements with an endless supply of income.

Thanks for tracking down some interesting history of the quote. In answer to your," simple box", The missing contributor simply pays a fine or goes to jail and the bartender cheerfully floats a higher bar tab that he never expects to get back and waters down the beer with a cheaper product for the next night.

Thanks for sharing a great series. Most of us just get a glimpse of one or two of these locations when traveling through the vastness of the Southwest states and you have shared a lot of effort and thought provoking images. In watching several Heritage programs on ancient populations and current news recently I am feeling blessed to live in a period of time and place where I don't have to worry daily about food, shelter and warring neighbors. Photography allows us to share and appreciate so much beauty and mystery. I have no illusions, however, that we are any less vulnerable to nature as a population than these ancient people and change is inevitable and unpredictable. Your images have stirred a multitude of thoughts.

Jokes aside,-next time you use a blacklight to check for accidents with your cat or dog, check around your toilet and become aware of the gross price paid for the convenience splattering an elevated stream of liquid into a small puddle. I guess using the toilet with the lid up or down could go under the heading of marking territory, but it is very unsanitary if you care.

The energy required to produce this much light in a room already lit would short out city light in Seattle, but it is a great image process and gets everyones attention. Thanks for sharing.

I think the audience response is support for it being fake. This would be startling and set off some alarms at least in the front row. If it is real it is proof that we are all just a holographic projection game of a superior being.
