I dont know whk wrote thus, but I really like it.

Take a knee...

Take a little trip to Valley Forge in January. Hold a musket ball in your
Fingers and imagine it piercing your flesh and breaking a bone or two.
There won't be a doctor or trainer to assist you until after the battle, so
Just wait your turn. Take your cleats and socks off to get a real
Experience.

Then, take a knee on the beach in Normandy where man after American man
Stormed the beach, even as the one in front of him was shot to pieces, the
Very sea stained with American blood. The only blockers most had were the
Dead bodies in front of them, riddled with bullets from enemy fire.

Take a knee in the sweat soaked jungles of Vietnam. From Khe Sanh to
Saigon, anywhere will do. Americans died in all those jungles. There was no
Playbook that told them what was next, but they knew what f**g they
Represented. When they came home, they were protested as well, and spit on
For reasons only cowards know.

Take another knee in the blood drenched sands of Fallujah in 110 degree
Heat. Wear your Kevlar helmet and battle dress. Your number won't be
Printed on it unless your number is up! You'll need to stay hydrated but
There won't be anyone to squirt Gatorade into your mouth. You're on your
Own.

There are a lot of places to take a knee where Americans have given their
Lives all over the world. When you use the banner under which they fought
As a source for your displeasure, you dishonor the memories of those who
Bled for the very freedoms you have. That's what the red stripes mean. It
Represents the blood of those who spilled a sea of it defending your
Liberty.

While you're on your knee, pray for those that came before you, not on a
Manicured lawn striped and printed with numbers to announce every inch of
Ground taken, but on nameless hills and bloodied beaches and sweltering
Forests and bitter cold mountains, every inch marked by an American life
Lost serving that f**g you protest.

No cheerleaders, no announcers, no coaches, no fans, just American men and
Women, delivering the real fight against those who chose to harm us,
Blazing a path so you would have the right to "take a knee." You haven't
Any inkling of what it took to get you where you are, but your "protest" is
Duly noted. Not only is it disgraceful to a nation of real heroes, it
Serves the purpose of pointing to your ingratitude for those who chose to
Defend you under that banner that will still wave long after your jersey is
Retired.

If you really feel the need to take a knee, come with me to church on
Sunday and we'll both kneel before Almighty God. We'll thank Him for
Preserving this country for as long as He has We'll beg forgiveness for our
Ingratitude for all He has provided us. We'll appeal to Him for
Understanding and wisdom. We'll pray for liberty and justice for all,
Because He is the one who provides those things. But there will be no
Protest. There will only be gratitude for His provision and a plea for His
Continued grace and mercy on the land of the free and the home of the
Brave. It goes like this, GOD BLESS AMERICA

Those that conflate fighting for our nation with a Sunday afternoon football game missed what we did in those jungles, beaches, seas, and forests.

Forcing others to follow a practice they disagree with insults every man and woman who died or bled for our nation.

No war was won because someone at home wore a f**g pin. Wars were won because we prevailed in the end.

Jingoism has k**led a lot of Americans unnecessarily.

The colors of the f**g mean: "Charles Thomson, Secretary of the Continental Congress, explained the significance to Congress when he presented the seal. “The colors,” Thomson said at the time, “are those used in the f**g of the United States of America. White signifies purity and innocence. Red, hardiness & valour, and Blue… signifies vigilance, perseverance & justice.”" While many have bled for, and on, our f**g, the red in the f**g was never to signify blood.

Yes, many veterans came home and were spit on. The vast majority weren't. The worst though were those that bought deferments for bone spurs and other trivial complaints. The one who called those held in horrendous prison camps "losers". It's funny how some people that hold this man up as a hero ignore his insults to veterans. To those wounded. To those who didn't come home. And when some people clearly state that they disagree with the abuses of the government, they are the ones called t*****rs.

If you want to take a knee, go for it. I don't; I stand with my hand on my heart. But I do it from my own volition, not because I have to. If someone wants to make an issue of whether or not I stand for our anthem then it is they who has the problem.

Those who whine the loudest didn't serve.

They are not taking a knee to disrespect the f**g or what others have done to preserve it. Donald "Bone Spurs" has one hell of a nerve to play the part of super patriot by castigating them. But he would have run right into that school in Florida to go after that gunman. Yeah sure. I think it's all about to hit the fan on him soon.

" I think it's all about to hit the fan on him soon" He has a dogged base who love his banter and excesses. He is scary but his supporters are more so and don't feel that they have an alternative.
We should be very concerned.

Now in my eighth decade I wish I hadn't served but wouldn't change anything - thank goodness the V A helps me with my disabilities. (Even to this day, just writing the word, "VIETNAM" causes shivers down my spine.)

Thanks for the lengthly post.

OK...so for about 3 minutes a week they "take a knee"What have they done in all the other minutes to solve the problems they are highlighting? Have they initiated any educational incentives? Any programs directed towards what you need to do to be successful? A discussion concerning your responsibilities if you father a child or if you are the mother of a child the care of the child is your personal responsibility, not the taxpayer and every entitlement program known to mankind. What have they done??? Just BS no substance no personal involvement. Am I wrong?? I have not seen anything these guys are involved in.

And those who served and whine have not learned the real sacrifice of those who have died. When symbols supersede the principles they represent, then those principles are debased.

We need to remind the people that the Preamble is not a "prologue" as so many are told. It is the true source of the US government. "We, the People," are the government above the President, Congress, and Supreme Court. It is past time to remind those who are elected that they are not our "royalty".

You are correct. Everyone has the inalienable Right to express themselves. This does not give anyone an authority to coerce others to follow suit.

So right. I would rather "stack the federal benches" to the left. Way left. That would be better. By the by what does this have to do with the knee thing?

They have you talking about it. Multiply that by the hundreds of thousands who are, also, talking about it.

Their personal involvement? They chance losing the jobs they have for bringing attention to a real and present problem.

I am sorry that you do not value children.

In what manner and in what way did I say I did not value children?? I think those males that father children and do nothing to support them or are not in their lives to be an influence are the ones that do not value children. They abandon their children. They fail to support them in any way. That is left to the taxpayer.
My point is what have the NFL players done other than taking a knee?? How involved have they as a group been?? Talk is cheap. What have they lent their celebrity to that influences change in getting an education and becoming a success?

Many of the players are involved in many ways. One only has to research the news about them. The price they face is like the inane rule the league came out with.

Why have the anthem at a professional game in the first place? Which team is the "good guys" and which, the "bad guys"?

By the way, what does freedom of expression has to do with birthing children?

"Talk is cheap"? It is, if what you are willing to lose is cheap.

And what "group" are you? I am a group of one.

Taking a knee while making millions a year in this country shows just how moronic some of us have become.

"Taking a knee" whether risking a few pennies or millions is not the question. The number of people's minds awakened, even just one, makes it worthwhile.

In some places, the price becomes lives.

The moronic part is having displays of "nationalism" at a professional game in the first place. (It is no community service. It is a sales draw.)
