Wondered why I hadn't seen any posts from Bob lately. He used to come by the Batteries Plus Bulbs store in Chandler, AZ where I work periodically. He will be missed.

Did you get any of the dust from the south this evening?
Yes. It went from slightly cloudy to dusty brown in about 5 minutes and lasted about 20 minutes.

I think I saw 12 more days over 110 in the long range forecast for Phoenix. They are on day 16 right now.
The news tonight indicated it forecast to last at least until Friday. Won't surprise me if it goes into next week.

When in Lake Havasu, just go to Phoenix to cool off.
Not that much cooler here in the Phoenix area. At 7:30pm it's 110 on my back patio here in beautiful downtown Mesa.
There are finally some cactus blossoms opening. The night blooming varieties have failed to open so far which is very disappointing. These are in a neighbor's yard.
I sent him my Alpha 850 about 10 years ago to have the battery cover replaced. He emailed me that the package had arrived 2 weeks after I sent it UPS ground from Columbus, OH. Two weeks later I got another email that the package was damaged as was the camera. It had been wrapped in over an inch of bubble wrap. I took it to a camera repair shop in Columbus after he sent it back. The tech looked at it & said the damage it exhibited could never have been caused by UPS. I emailed Rick asking for his liability insurance policy information. Never heard from him again. Wouldn't trust him any further than I could throw him.
[quote=jerryc41]In MA, if you drive your car in that state for thirty days, you must register the car there and buy a license plate. A man visited a friend for just over a month, and someone reported him for a parking violation. Now, the MA vehicle people are threatening to revoke his license. He's been fighting this for a couple of years, and they gave him a sixty-day extension.
They'd have a hard time enforcing that idea here in Arizona. We have too many snowbirds not only from the northern & midwestern states but, from Canada as well.
I was visiting a cousin in Pittsburgh, PA several years ago for a mini family reunion & parked my car around the corner from his house overnight so the company delivering tables & chairs could have access. The next day I went to move my car & discovered a parking ticket. Seems in Pittsburgh you can't park on certain streets without a permit overnight. No signs & my cousin wasn't aware that where I parked was a no overnight parking street. He had lived there for 5 years. I emailed the parking enforcement department & they voided the ticket.
It's the time of year that cacti in the Mesa, AZ area start to bloom. These are in our backyard neighbor's yard. I've shot pictures of the 1st one several times in the past. Don't think I realized the base of the thorns was red. This growth wasn't there 2 days ago when I was out scouting. The blossoms in the 3rd shot were the only ones still open enough to see inside. The rest, about 15, had closed already.

Nice capture. Maybe a little crop?
It’s already at 50% of the original frame. Didn’t want to crop it any more.
I was outside shooting pictures of Prickly Pear buds when I heard a couple Gila Woodpeckers hammering away on a palm close by. Ran inside to switch lenses but, by the time I got back, they had flown away. Fortunately, 1 of them landed on a Saguaro where it has a nest. Shot with a Sigma 150-600 & cropped about 50%.
You might try Tri-Flo. It has teflon in it. I've used it on items that include plastic with no problems.
Outstanding catch. I've used to use a Tamron 150-600 to shoot dragon flies when we lived in Ohio. That way you don't have to sneak up on them.
