I haven't gone from PC to mac. I use macs and use an external between my laptop and iMac. both access the images in lightroom on the drive without putting them on the computer.
so I would say to put all your images on an external drive from the pc then plug it into the iMac and import into lightroom. I believe if the drive is formatted in fat32 both systems cam read it. I'm sure someone will correct me if Im wrong. but thats what I would try if it was me.

just incase you are interested, a friend of mine is a pilot for Rust flying service and he has been putting together all day photo flights in the slow season. he has 2 planed to fly to Prince William sound. the plane is on floats so he can land at the glaicers and get out and shoot. its a little costly but its about the cost of a normal 3 hour flight. i think it was $400 for all day. he is also a photographer so he knows how to get good shots.
if your interested here is a link to where he posted it on the photo clubs web site. you might even be interested in joining our club! its free

18-250, when I went there were times 24 wasn't wide enough, I used my 10-22 a lot in vegas. when out of the city the 105 was to short. it really depends on what your shooting, but the 18-250 will give you a little more on both ends

far north, depending on when you were there it might have been smoke from the fires that gave the milky look. we were in Seward Tuesday thru Thursday camping and there was smoke in the air from the fire in Soldatna.

as far as the focusing point and shoots tend to be slow focusing, and again the smoke would have made it harder to focus.

use your Canon software that came with the camera convert to DNG or TIFF then open in elements

I purchased a new T5i Canon Camera. My Elements 11 will not open the raw images. Do I need to buy a new Elements 14?

Yep, these manufacturers know how to $stick-it$ to you.
Every time you make a change, you spend the dollars to upgrade programs and more equipment.

Convert to dng the import to lightroom

I have just purchased the new Canon 7D Mkii. I have had two sessions with it and I am thrilled with the performance. AF is so fast.
Adobe has not caught up with the release of this new model and I cannot download the CR2 files using Lightroom or any of their other programs and have had to use the Canon software. It is no match for Lightroom and i am wondering if there is another program I can use that will download the CR2 but work more like Lightroom?
After I process in the canon software I then convert to a Tiff file to transfer to Photoshop. This is really clunky.
Does anyone have any other thoughts of improving on this.
Thanks for your help. Cheers. Brian

I just updated on my laptop last week, I had office 2003. it no longer works. also lost quicken and photoshop CS2.
it seems any software that is power PC will not run on Yosemite.
I have CS5 with still works and I have Apple version of office but I am not going to update my desktop, it is still running snow leopard.
it seems my laptop has slowed down after the update. its a late 2008 model.
this site has a list of compatible software and whats not. http://roaringapps.com/apps?index=a

I purchases a Seagate 1TB Slim external HD, but I think I got the wrong one and need to exchange it for something different, as it doesn't seem like it's compatible for Mac to Mac data transfer. Says it's for transfer between Windows and Mac.

you may need to reformat the drive for the mac.
if you want to keep pics of family and special images for viewing on the laptop, you could reduce them then save to the laptop. they dont need to be full size for viewing on the laptop.
as for giving up riding your motorcycle for photography. I find the 2 go together for me. my bike has saddle bags, so my camera fits nicely in it and I can go for a ride and stop when I see something I like

I would look to see if there is a setting to keep focus lock while shutter is depressed half way. so when the subject moves out of the center point it dont refocus. or see if there is a group of focus points in the center

I'm just guessing here, I dont shot Nikon. but it seems you were using the center focus point the first shot the player is in focus, in the set of 3 as the player moves off center the camera focused more on the trees in back. notice the player in the lower left is much more in focus then in the first.
also in the 2nd the same happens and possibly the exposure changed for the trees making the player slightly over exposed

Just for general things to do, I liked Colonial Williamsburg. The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts has the largest collection of Faberge eggs in the world, as well as a ton of other Faberge stuff which, unfortunately, seems to be traveling right now. But if you're interested in going to Richmond, I'd still go to the VMFA.

I will have to google Richmond to see whats there. I have never been to Virginia. have no idea where we are going. but we have reservations for places to stay and a car rental! who knows where we will end up!
thanks for the input!
