I had an adapter that you put a Micro SD card into this adapter to fit slots for CF cards. It worked fine, but only at the speed the tiny little Micro SC cards rating. You will not get the same performance from this kind of adapter unless the adapted card has it....

I'll bet many of you knew this already, but until a month ago, I did not. Never EVER put a personal check in the USPS mail. Never!

I've now learned what a "washed check" is. I wrote a check for $110 go a knee/ankle LLC business, put it into the mail box,and learned that it was never arrived. Shortly after that, I received a call from my bank asking if I wrote a check for $4,200 to XXXXX person. H7!! no, but that person took that amount of money from my check account. Totally fraud, and my bank did refund my money, but after my checking account had to be closed, new one opened, then new credit card, new debit card, and then the task of contacting everyone who made direct deposit to my account (as in retirement), and anyone who did direct withdrawal (as in my mortgage). However today I learned that the mortgage bank could do withdrawals for only 30 days. Tomorrow, I get to drive to the mortgage bank, complete a form for NEW withdrawal, and also to write a check for September, since the new form won't take kick in until October.

Moral of the story? Never ever put a personal check into an envelope with a stamp on it. Never. And before anyone might think "I'll tick "pay by credit card" and then write down your credit card number, et. al., and put THAT into an envelope with a stamp on it, think again, for you will have possibly given your credit card number over to a total scam person.

I know there are excellent USPS carriers out there. Very few in my zip code.

So there my fellow members. I share this so that you won't have to go through all of what I have had to do, and I'm not finished it.

About 6 months ago I was checking my checking account balance and was overdrawn. I looked at the debits and found a check for $1,950 to a person I don't know, never met, and the note said for rent. The check didn't even match my checks. They look nothing alike. But that person took it into a Wells Fargo and cashed it.

Of course, the exact same things you did are what I had to do too. Heck, I just found out that one of the things that I pay for annually didn't get paid. Rut-row!!!!

Here is another shot of Autumn on the rr tracks. She had the strangest things growing out of her head. I had to get rid of all that trash. Here are presented the before and after. I use photoshop (PS6 Extended) for this kind of editing. See what you think. The only thing that bothers me about this is sacrificing those wisps of hair from the top of her head; saving them would mean working at the pixel level. I've done it, but mostly I don't feel like I should spend 10 hours or more on one photo. Best to take care of this crap in-camera.

If I hadn't shown the before file, I'm sure there would be no comments like "Where are the wisps of hair that should be on top of her head?". But I did, so let your comments fly.

Z-1 to 5 didn't work as desired???
Z-6 was a success?

Nope! I bet they are doing it like Canon's R series. They started out with the R, no number. Then an R5 and R6 at the same time. Not too expensive a camera but they sold toward the beginning. Now they are making the better R3 which has a lot of bells and whistles and those the bought the R5,R6 will want an R3. So they sell the R5 or R6, but the R3 and use that for a while and then the R1 (professional camera) will come out soon and those that have the R3 will want that. So Canon is getting repeat business.

So Nikon has the Z6-??? and later will come out with the better Z3, then a Z1. Those that have the others bodies will sell and buy the better bodies.

No, this was detailed in an article sometime after the shot. They used a liquid that burned off very fast as magicians use in their acts. It was set up, lit, and photographed and the flames burned off in a matter of seconds.

I was going to call BS but your explanation seems logical.

There's no way a guy could stand on hot lava with temps high enough to ignite his shoes and tripod. He couldn't even get close.

It's like buying a 700 horsepower Corvette and putting regular in it. It will run, but it will not perform well. Same with your camera - especially when using it in "burst" mode.

Can you actually see it change focus when you point at subjects that are different distances from the camera? If the lens seems to behave as it should it could be a camera setting related to focus. My cameras can be set to NOT take the photo unless it's achieved perfect focus. Also, if you have another lens, try it out before taking it in for repair.

Ok, this is a tough one. At first I agreed with the Northern Rough-winged Swallow. But the stripes on the chest and the shape of the beak looked wrong in all the books I checked. (Stokes, National Geographic, Sibley, and Crossley ID Guide) I am going to propose another bird, see if you agree with me. First the shape of the beak is wrong for a Shrike. The hook referred to by another isn't the same on this bird and the coloring is all wrong. The Northern Rough-winged the beak is smaller and stops as soon as it hits the front of the head, plus I didn't see any stripes on the chest. So I kept looking and in the Crossleys I have (excellent bird book that I LOVE) I found an immature Purple Martin that seems to fill everything. The beak is the same, instead of the beak stopping at the front of the head it extends to almost under the eye. There is a dark patch extending behind the eye that looks the same to me, and the are brown markings on the chest. So I am going to ID it as a immature Purple Martin. Anyone else agree or have another opinion?

I agree, it's a Purple Martin, juvenile.

I found a good way to ID birds. If you use Google Chrome as your browser there's a new feature called Google lens. You right click on the image, and select Google Lens. It helped me id two birds that I couldn't find in my book.

I'm making a case for a ukulele, and I thought I'd put some of that round trim along the interior areas where top and sides meet. It took a while to discover that it is called piping. I ordered some from Amazon - five-day delivery. Getting somewhat impatient, I thought I could avoid waiting till Friday by driving to Joann Fabrics. I spent a little over an hour driving there and back. No piping. I couldn't believe it. They had what looked like brown cord and bundles of wool. I bought some wool, but I don't think that will work because it tends to unravel. I'll have to wait till Friday and Amazon's delivery. In using that, I'll have to cut off that wide flap.

That brings up another potential problem. In experimenting with the wool, it seems that the hot glue is going to show on either side of the piping. The same oozing happens with wood glue. I see that Elmer's make clear glue, and that might work. I considered using 3M 77 Adhesive, but that sprays on, so it would go too far. This whole case project was experimenting/learning, so maybe I'll skip the piping. If you have any suggestions about gluing the piping in place, I'd be glad to hear them.

You should have asked the people at Joanne's if they have fabric glue. I'm sure they sell it. Try experimenting with hot glue...if you have a hot glue gun or can borrow one. I know that 3M spray adhesive will work but you'd have to mask off areas that you don't want sprayed. I used it to attach new felt fabric inside of my gun safe. Works very well but you should spray both pieced first, let dry about 30 seconds and then attach.

Not a Mockingbird. They aren't blue like this bird. I tried to ID it and couldn't find it. There are 29 birds in North America that has a primary color of blue. This one didn't match any. I don't know where Sleep Hollow is, but I've been to Carbon Canyon park many times. This bird might be some kind of pet that has escaped....

I don't get to shoot nature very often but I took a day trip to Tilghman Island on the eastern shore of Maryland last week. I managed to capture an Osprey and another bird I can't identify. Using the Canon R5 with animal eye tracking makes it almost too easy. These were taken with a 70-200 2.8 with and without a 2x extender. The sunset was a 24-105. Tilghman is rather secluded and the B&B we stayed in was wonderful. I highly recommend the entire area if you ever get a chance to visit.

I can't figure out what the bird is either. I wonder if someone else can ID it....

Good one. Back when I smoked and drank, I sometimes wouldn't have enough money to pay for my auto insurance. So I'd let it lapse for a month or two until I could afford it. But, when I gave up cigarettes, I told myself that my savings from not supporting that nasty habit should keep me from letting my insurance lapse ever again - and it never has. The quitting drinking? Well I used to spend about $40/day on that and ever since I quit that I have felt like I can buy anything I want or need. Sometimes I have to save up for a period of time, or take out a loan, but back when I drank I couldn't even consider those options. Plus, I'd most likely be dead by now if I hadn't gone on the wagon 35 years ago.

I know how much cigarettes cost and they are very expensive now. I bought some whiskey for as gifts and know how much that costs too. Cigarettes have gone up more than 5 times since I quit. Beer has only doubled; same as whiskey.
