How do I get my metadata to go/show up with my pictures. I email out of LRCC pops into gmail then out, but my info is not going. Anyone with any ideas.
Thanks
Ron

Hi Ron. In LR, there is a box called metadata in the export dialog. If you look on the left pane at the presets, you will see the LR Presets folder and the "email" portion. If you open the email preset and look at the preset section, it probably says "Copyright Only". this can be changed to "All Metadata". After changing it, right click and "Updated Preset" to have it go out that way in the future. Hope that works for you.

A "tricky situation" as explained by Tim Grey in his August 26, 2014 newsletter.

"If you do update metadata outside the context of Lightroom, this can get messy very quickly. For example, if you make changes to metadata in Adobe Bridge and also make changes in Lightroom, you won't be able to simply merge the results. Instead, you'll need to choose which "version" of the updates you want to keep. So, again, restricting metadata updates to only be performed within Lightroom is, in my mind, the best solution.

If you want to resolve the metadata conflicts, you first need to be sure of whether Lightroom reflects all applicable changes for all images. If so, you can use the "Overwrite Settings" option. If not, you'll need to selectively update individual images, so that you choose the "Import Settings from Disk" for any photos you have updated the metadata for outside of Lightroom. But again, this will replace any updates you've made within Lightroom, which could lead to other (perhaps more significant) problems.

Frankly, I recommend using Lightroom exclusively for metadata updates, which helps avoid this issue in the first place. And when it comes to inexplicable indications of metadata mismatches, assuming you've been working exclusively within Lightroom those mismatches don't really need to be a cause for alarm."

Does anyone have a suggestion for a company that will do custom print sizes? Looking for a web site where I can upload photos and specify the size.

I have used Bay Photo, Mpix, Adorama and a few others with satisfaction, but when I landed on Aspen Creek Photo, I was really thrilled. Very good, competitive pricing, great sales and easy-peasy.

Does anyone know of an adapter that will allow me to connect a Bausch and Lomb 20-60 x 80 spotting scope to a Nikon D7000? Better yet, does anyone have one of these for sale?

Look up www.novagrade.com. I think they have what you are looking for.

Tim Grey just did an answer to that very question on his newsletter "Ask Tim Grey". Hopefully this attachment will have your answer. It is in the MS Word format. If it doesn't work for some reason, you might try to look up October 9, 2014 from the Ask Tim Grey newsletter.

Sorry, that should read "titled D7100 Update".

Have you done a search in finder for the "D7100 Update" folder or the file with the .bin extension? The folder created in the download file of my windows machine is titled D7000 and when I click on that file, it unzips the file and places the file named "D7100_####.bin under the main D7100 update folder (#### representing the update number). Hope this helps. As for the reader and the SD card on your Mac, it should show up in the far left side of the Finder. If not, then Nikon should be able to help if you call them.

Use the Mac "Finder" and locate the proper files and do the same thing with them as previously suggested.

First off, make sure you card reader is visible in Windows Explorer (if using a Windows Machine) and make sure the newly downloaded update is visible. Once both are there and you can see them, drag and drop or copy and paste the file that ends with .bin) to the top level folder on the card (On mine, it's the one that says Nikon) then insert into the camera and follow the instructions. Complete instructions are on the Nikon update web site. Hope it works for you.

South of Yahacts is the Thor's Well site and the Spouting Horn-both great sunset opportunities. Down around Charleston is also great photo ops.

NEF Files are Nikon Electronic Files. I can of course open them with the supplied Nikon software as well as PS.
My question is, is there a small program that will show me a thumb nail of that pic as I move thru my directories of photos?
the way Windows shows me my JPG files.
Yes I know Bridge will show me, but I dont like how you move thru directories using bridge. Currently my camera saves in RAW and JPG at the same time so that I can see the Thumb Nail
the problem with this, it takes too long for the camera to save two versions .

One program I have used for a long time and it is excellent is the Faststone Image Viewer. Free to download or you can donate a small amount. Here is their web site for the download: http://www.faststone.org/

I've used a Nikkor 20mm f/2.8 for interior architectural work. That is on a full frame camera. Since you didn't mention the camera with which you'll use the lenses listed, it's difficult to advise on a particular focal length lens.

Sorry about that. I shoot with a Nikon D600 updated.
