Looking at Nikon 16-35mm VR or the 17-35 mm. Really like the VR. Have tried the 14-24 mm and am not excited with the distortion. Looking to do some interior shot with this lens. Maybe a fixed focal length? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I use the Nikon 10-24 to take shots of my kid's retail store (inside merchandise shots) and it does an excellent job. Sorry I can't speak directly to the lens you asked about but I've never used either.

Distortion can be a problem with any wide angle. You must make sure that you get horizontal and vertical lines correct "in camera" when you take the shot. Otherwise it can be very difficult to correct in Photoshop. There may still be slight distortion that occurs, even after setting it up correctly, but that is easily corrected in Photoshop afterwards.

I use the 16-35mm F4 VR, its wonderfully sharp, and the VR III is sensitive enough to leave on when on a tripod doing long exposures and it will even counteract the mirror slap on the D800.

Thanks, I am shooting with a D600 updated and I was hoping for this.

This lens would be a part of the DX line from Nikon.

Distortion on the 10mm? Was also considering the 14 mm FX from Nikon for a prime.

I had the 17-35mm, it was ok, but somewhat soft. That may partly have been my particular sample. The 16-35mm is reported to be sharper, and the difference between f/2.8 and f/4 rarely seems to matter for wide-angle shots.

I now use the 24mm f/1.4 and 14mm f/2.8 primes. The 14mm is very good, the 24mm is exceptional.

D800, 14mm f/2.8, SOOC
D800, 14mm f/2.8, SOOC...

I would disagree with that, because when you move back the perspective changes significantly. With a wide angle shot, that is important to the effect of the image. Part of the point of the wide angle lens is to make you feel like you are in the scene. Moving back to cover the same scene with a 50mm can't do that.

Have to agree with amehta..... As you back up to get more width, your target subject also gets smaller in relation to the entire photo.

Comparing the 14mm and the 50mm lenses, you have to move back 3.5x the distance from the subject. With the picture of the lake I posted above, what is the subject? The front, middle, or back of the lake? Each one makes a different picture. There is no judgement that any picture is better or worse than any other picture, simply that they are different. That difference is a tool we can use.

You seem to be interested in ultra-wide angle lenses with a Nikon mount, and you like VR (which is not as important or useful with wide angle lenses as with telephoto.) I suggest you go to lensrentals.com and try out a few before purchasing. The best ultra-wide for Nikon with a fixed focal length does not have either autofocus or vr. It is the Zeiss 15mm f/2.8. For a zoom, the Tokina ultra-wide is also excellent.
