Although I have been a Red Wings fan all my life (70 years now) I loved watching Bobby Orr play. I remember Derek Sanderson. I had a Boston Jersey with #16 on it. Great shots.

My favorite is Russ Elkins because of his brilliant technique using b&w. When on other websites I have directed others to his website.

I also love Graham Smith. I have a bit of a game I play each day. I look at the title heading and decide which ones are from Graham before looking at the post. I am right about 70%. I like Graham because his pics cover such a broad range.

As a former USMC radio tech, I can assure you it is not a "prick 10" The ANPRC designation means it was a portable , like back pack. I can't recall the radio set in this jeep, but the designation would have been ANGRCXXXX for the whole unit. In other words, Ground Radio Communications.

The only reason I said Prick 10 was because we used to jump with these jeeps and our radios were mounted much like that one is. They were not on the jeeps when we jumped. We carried them in a "B" bag that was about chin height. It was so heavy the only way to walk once it was attached to you was to kick the bottom out and "schooch" up to it. Once the stick started to jump you had to work your ass off to get to the door and out. When you were about 20 ft off the ground you released it and it would fall. They were great on windy days because it "anchored" you to the ground until you could gather your chute in. We could carry the radio when we did not have our jeeps so it was a portable.

What is all that gear for in the last image? Some kind of radio equipment? or power for radio equipment?

It looks like an ANPRC10 radio. Affectionately called a "Prick 10". If memory serves me correctly (I am 70!!) the Prick 6 was the walkie talkie we used. I hope I have not confused these numbers. It has been awhile.

For what it is worth: I use a Nikon ML-2 remote trigger release. I shot many panoramas on a tripod. I use mirror lockup and wait 5 seconds for the camera to settle down and shoot. My point is I never screw the remote all the way into the 10 pin connector. On my camera (D2x) the fit is snug enough to hold it in. I am 70 and my fingers are not as nimble as they used to be.

Huey Driver I have to agree with you. Out wonderful media can not show this man to be a hero. It is sad.

I was in the 82nd Airborne and I have jumped Hueys. We used to say it was like jumping off of your dining room table. It was a long time ago.

That is it my friend. I was born and raised in Detroit. Before I moved to the southwest in 1977 I worked for Chrysler. These were built at the truck plant about 2 miles from my home in Warren, MI. I had to go there periodically to work on certain things. I know at that time they still built these in the Middle East and we sent boxes of parts for them to assemble. I do not remember if they were still building them here in the US or not at that time. This was a great vehicle and an absolute work horse. Many were used as battlefield ambulances. They were still using them in the Army in 1965 when I got out of the military.

I have a tablet that I love but do not use it for the camera. I store music and audio books on it. I like the books when I take my camera out. The drives to and from the areas I like to shoot are 45 mins and more. Some much more. The other thing I like about the tablet is I have all of my cameras user manuals in pdf form on it. I use a film and a digital camera and there are times that I am looking to do something that is out of the ordinary and I need the manual to find out how to do it. Since I always take the tablet with my on short trips I always have my manuals also.

If you like to read like I do you can have the kindle edition of a book and also the audio edition and they will "sync" to where you left off in either one. I really enjoy mine and at 70 I have plenty of time to play with it.

I have been a Wings fan since the early 50's and attended many games at the old Olympia. I am so excited that they made it to the playoffs again.

Do some investigation. Mr. Hanson calls the central valley home. He is a brilliant writer and teacher. He laments the loss of Calif. to illegals. You really should read more of what he has written.

I have a Nikon D3000. After seeing so many advisories to learn to use features other than Auto focus, I have made several attempts to learn more. However, after I have played around with the settings for awhile, I find that I can not get my camera to fire. I can keep pushing on the shutter button and nothing happens except that the "pre-light" will come on and that's all --the shutter doesn't function.
After I play around awhile the camera will eventually revert to normal operation, but I have no idea why.

Bad Daddy if you feel intimidated by your owners manual might I suggest this: When confronted with something entirely new some folks have the same problem whether it is the first chemistry class or whatever. One tried and true way to combat this is to repeat repeat repeat. Continue to re-read you manual. One of the first things that is daunting is the nomenclature. "What do all these words mean?" It will slowly come to you. Also, sometimes having it explained in a different way can help. Buy an after market manual for your camera. Good luck and don't give up!!!

Thanks for your positive reply! Sensor wise, one of my all time favorite pics came from a Nikon coolpix 900 built in 1998! So I don't think the smaller size sensor will be a huge issue. I have just bought one on KEH. Going to give it a try for a bit, if necessary I can return it within 14 days. I live 20 minutes away from them. Wish me luck!

We good luck and have a great time! It is a great camera.
