I don't know if this has been brought up before or not - never needed to know until tonight. Was on NOMORERACK. com and saw a Google Android 1.6, 8.2gb, 9" tablet for $89. Had a front and rear camera. I saw one awhile ago but didn't really pay much attention to it other than the photo the person was taking and it looked nice. Question is - does anyone know how many megapixels a photo taken with a tablet is? I get 18x24 enlargements made with a lot of the photos I take with my SX40 and Xti - both are set on large which gives me a 4000x3000mp picture which gives me a perfect enlargement size. Does a tablet even come close to this?

It depends on the tablet. My old one was 5mp but I have a new one that is 8mp and takes pretty good pictures for a tablet.

Read the specs, it should say what the camera is. On a tablet in that price range, don't be expecting much. They are probably in the 2-3megapixel range. OK for email, maybe 4x6 prints and not much else.

don't buy a tablet for it's camera, buy one and get an app like DSLR controller and use it to control a proper camera! Even better if you control your camera via WiFi.

I have a Samsung tablet that has a 3 mp camera that I've never used. It's perfect for using as a portable portfolio though.

Thanks for your input - made the most sense to me and I think I'll forget the tablet idea. Again - thanks.

I have a tablet that I love but do not use it for the camera. I store music and audio books on it. I like the books when I take my camera out. The drives to and from the areas I like to shoot are 45 mins and more. Some much more. The other thing I like about the tablet is I have all of my cameras user manuals in pdf form on it. I use a film and a digital camera and there are times that I am looking to do something that is out of the ordinary and I need the manual to find out how to do it. Since I always take the tablet with my on short trips I always have my manuals also.

If you like to read like I do you can have the kindle edition of a book and also the audio edition and they will "sync" to where you left off in either one. I really enjoy mine and at 70 I have plenty of time to play with it.

Like you, I have all my manuals in PDF format and I keep copies on my tablet and my Kindle. Very handy to have along on a shooting trip.
