Nikon Don....you have my support.

Thanks tlbuljac, it is appreciated.

You've got my support, all of us Doc ......

Maybe your choice of words could have been better but We know exactly what you meant and

Gay has nothing to do with it, he turns my stomach too.

Tanks Wabbit! I appreciate the support. My choice of words could have been different but I can't think of one good word to describe the likes of him. I've heard much worse on here and nobody said anything. I can't believe a few pompous goody-goodies jumping to conclusions and going "off" about it.

One person even had the outright gall comparing it to using the "N" word. Give me a freaking break. "Don't put words in my mouth."

Next they will be "demanding" my resignation!!! Bla! Bla! Bla!

That's one of the problems in this great country currently. Too many thin-skinned opinionated whiners with nothing better to do than bitch about what this guy said or what that person said. Paaaaaaaalease!

Interpretation makes a difference .... It's not only what's said but how it's said .... And .... Just as important is .... "How it's perceived"!

You are very correct Sir Rabbit--perception has a lot to do with the messages that we see on this board. I happened to perceive that the word was a slur and derogatory. I wrote a comment stating just that and even gave a very personal reason why I felt it was hurtful. This same thing used to happen in the high school I worked in. When I heard that slur word, I would tell the student(s) that when that say that they hurt me and someone I love. It usually opened some dialogue about words and how they can hurt. I was never put down by any of those teenagers for speaking up.

I did not expect an apology--but neither did I expect to be jumped on for expressing an opinion. I did say I felt it is using the "n" word for describing African Americans or even the "r" word for the mentally challenged.

Since you are all so supportive of Nikon_DonB and his right to use such language, I would ask that you be supportive of a fellow hedgehopper who feels differently. I did not blast your friend, I only pointed out that he had hurt my feelings. If that makes me "
"thin-skinned opinionated whiners with nothing better to do than bitch" I will own up to it.

I too have seen some very mean things posted here, including some aimed at me personally but I have never seen the "F, r, n," words used against anyone.

Sure, did you see that little faggot Simmons in the Geico commercial. Makes me want to puke.

I was having quite a few chuckles reading this thread until I got to this one and my heart just dropped. I don't care what you think of Richard Simmons, slurs like this hurt people like me. No, I'm not gay but someone I love very much is so this pains me.

I apologize if that hurt your feelings and I'm sorry a loved one is gay. That is something I can't change. I was NOT making a generalization about gays if you read the post thoroughly. I was specifically referring to Richard Simmons. He makes me sick. I think he actually puts gays in a bad light because I also know some people of the "alternative lifestyle." I know for fact they don't act like that little twit. Enough said!

I know that in all your authority you said enough has been said but I guess I don't listen too well. You don't have to be sorry that that I have a loved one who is gay--that loved one is a successful person in a loving relationship. I took offense that you used the "f" word which I find as offense as the "n" word.

I don't like Richard Simmons either--I find him silly and obnoxious--but then I find some heterosexuals the same way and find they give all heterosexuals a bad image. I'm very glad you know some living "the alternative lifestyle." They must be honored to have your acquaintanceship. Now, enough said!

Would love to host Hobo Hedgehog up here in Hampden Maine. I think he would enjoy a visit to Fort Knox, Baxter State Park and Acadia National Park. We aren't sure but he maybe a relative to Max the boxer's two hedgehogs.

I like the photos, #2 (cropped) a little better. Only thing I would add is that I think they slant a little to the left ... check the straightening tool for level ... just a tad.

Good eye--it does seem to slant just a tad--I will fix that!

Both are nice shots although I prefer the second one. The forested area partially hides the mountain. Is there any vantage point that you can get a higher elevation so that you can see more of the mountain? I take a lot of Mt Rainier and find that location for the photographer can make significant changes in the appearance of the mountain. If you can capture the foothills in front of the mountain, it makes the photo much more dramatic.

I believe there are spots within Baxter State park that allow a better vantage point for photographing the mountain. This was a view driving from Medway to Millinocket. I hope to get into the park while there is still snow on the mountain. Right now, I believe the only way into the park is with a snowmobile which I don't do!

Thank you all for looking at my pictures and commenting on them. I like the cropped version best myself. Still wish I'd had the longer lens with me.

I am going to try a couple different versions of the crop. Sometimes I get one idea stuck in my head and stop there. Thank you for suggesting another idea--I will try it.

Thank you docrob for taking the time to look at my pictures. I know I didn't do the Mt. real justice--wished I'd had the longer lens with me. I appreciate the encouragement.

I've seen some posters say that using Chrome helps alleviate the problem. Also don't hit preview on your message--it makes the files with your pictures disappear. Check to make sure you are using jpg and that your files aren't too big. I hope you get it straightened out. :-)
