I would like to have prints made in the UK for ease of shipment directly to UK friends and thus save on shipping, customs duties, etc.
Thanks for your help!

My wife (Deceased in 2015) was a professional photographer--she had an F-1 and an F-3 that she used for assignments with the phone company here in Florida. Since all of her stuff was Nikon, I bought her a Nikon DSLR when they became available. My go to camera(s) were FujiFilm mirrorless, and each of them impressed me with the quality of the shots--what I did not like was the cheesy viewfinder (EVF). After she died, I sent her photographic equipment to her son in Lexington, Kentucky, as he expressed an interest in it. My question has to do with the EVF viewfinders--Have they improved greatly, or not? I am thinking a getting another camera, and I will go with mirrorless if the viewfinders are a lot better, but if they are not, I will go with a DSLR instead. Any insights on this question, ladies and gentlemen? Thanks in advance.

If you drove Route 66 in 1971 then I reckon you're certainly now well-established in the 'old fogey clan' !

Which of the Fuji mirrorless cameras you refer to had a 'cheesy EVF'? Knowing that would certainly help. Have you still got it? How much have you kept up with the development of the 'X-Series'?

The X-T1 (Jan 28 2014) had what was recognised as a 'ground breaking' EVF.

There have been 3 further iterations of that camera, and the latest (X-T4) is recognised worldwide as one of the best crop sensor cameras available.

What do you think - d'ya think the Fuji engineers might just have made some EVF advancements over the years ?

There are a zillion good reasons to use Fuji X-Series cameras/lenses, and you'll have your own.

The info to answer your question is out there - I've been a user since 2013 - but to what degree are you keeping up?

Nothing wrong - indeed a lot right - with the viewfinder of the X-T cameras !

And a new (groundbreaking?) camera about to be launched on the 31st of this month. Stay alert - keep up !

Don't read or follow Chinese proverbs. So have no intention of examining, nor following, your advice - my privilege.

There's some fella down in Mar-a-Lago who truly needs to follow your advice - but I'm on another planet, and that's your country's problem.

Don't see the OP having "kicked me into touch" ....... but thanks for your curious intervention. Seems to have become a habit of yours since you joined !!

No point in simply "finding a quiet corner and sobbing" Ray - if you REALLY want a GFX, then set yourself a goal and plan towards it. And there is a used market, certainly here in your old country, for the highly-respected GFX cameras.

Use the time to watch and learn from an excellent landscape pro over here who uses the GFX .......

I just went to Nikon USA's web site. The Z cameras are said to be compatible with hundreds of F mount lenses with a footnote that some restrictions may apply without going into specifics and without describing the user experience with those lenses that are not fully compatible. The link to compatible lenses lists every D (screws drive) lens with no further statement regarding restrictions. Questions about lens compatibility keep popping up on UHH. You have to go to third party web sites like this one or Ken Rockwell's to get a proper compatibility description. People are buying these cameras and find out about compatibility issues when they mount their older lenses for the first time. It has happened on this forum.

I thought ALL US Nikon users follow and read Thom Hogan. I'm on a different planet, but have known of him and the value of his websites since 2012.

This for your interest from him Sept 7th 2018 - https://sansmirror.com/lenses/lens-database/lenses-from-camera-makers/nikon-z-mount-lenses/ftz-adapter-compatibility.html

Please don't blame Nikon. All the negative comments on this forum have emanated, as Superfly mentions, from users who have not done sufficient research.

You want "the truth" about Nikon's "Z" cameras ? Start here after the manufacturer's website .......

So very good to see your post, here, craggy ~ and you're still using your Fujifilm kit! Wonderful! I don't often visit this forum, anymore, as it seemed to become a Nicanon/Canikon site (maybe always was?). BTW; this last November I acquired a near-new X-Pro2 (even though I tend to avoid anything with "pro" on the label;^). It will join the X-E2 that was my "gateway drug), purchased in 2016 ~ it's still the most comfortable and fun EDC (every day carry) camera for me.

Hey, my friend - thanks for your kind words - 'fraid I have long now become disenchanted with the direction the "everyday chat" here has followed. Indeed, I had hardly begun to get involved back in 2012 when I was told to "butt out" by one fella that, I think, still runs one of the groups. So I simply chime in as and when in the hope that the OP might at least listen and take note - their decision what they do with my info, which is purely intended to help.

Yep - totally content with my "3 piece Fuji kit" - might just think about a camera change with the X-H2 come summer - but current kit satisfies for my needs, and that's what's important to me !

I own the Z6 and am very pleased with its performance. I have been a Nikon devotee for (oh my!) 52 years. For short periods, I tried Fuji and Olympus but came home to Nikon. I have compared, on paper the Z6 to the Z7. I am not interested in the Z7. Now to my question: what would inspire me to move to the Z6ll? I have compared the two and I cannot find compelling differences, except to be driven by GAS.
Responses much appreciated

Read closely Thom Hogan's Z6 review - pay particular attention to his very last paragraph.

I just ordered an X-T4 and am looking for an inexpensive lens to get me started. I can buy a Fujifilm X-fujinar-W f2.8 28 DM from craigslist for $60. Will this lens fit this camera without any adaptors? If not, any recommendations for a starter lens?

I'm Lucy and Sally's papa, from Robin Hood country in the UK - long time since I contributed here, but a Fuji X-Series user since 2013.

The X-T4 simply continues a line of excellent APS-C cameras. Most XF lenses will perform well on it. Some decide to use old (and good quality) manual lenses on these cameras - but that needs an adapter and, in many, if not most, cases, "manual focus only". I've tried both and came to an early decision - use lenses designed for the camera.

My pics tend to be within the 35mm to 80mm (full frame) range, and I enjoy having low-light performance, so I have 2 primes - 23mm f1.4 and 56mm f1.2. Coupled with a bit of "zooming with my feet" these two do it for me. What point in having any kit you're not gonna use ?

Your subject interest may demand something different - but, to get you going you might like to look at the XF 23mm f1.4. A couple of pics with this lens attached.

Unless you are already aware .... this is a really good learning YouTube site - and in north America !

You made a good camera decision. Have fun !

Yeah, right. The main progress is in the income of the companies. One of these days they'll come with the ultimate "must buy" and you guys will all be ditching your mirrorless.

I started with film in the '60s, switched to digital (DSLR) and that's where I am. I see no advantge for me with mirrorless, most of that long list means nothing to me. YMMV! Or it may not...but as long as you're happy.... Harry
PS Of course it helps that I have a better hobby that I spend around a thousand a month on. Doesn't leave me much money for mirrorless! (I have several bodies and maybe a dozen lens.) Guess I'll just have to stumble along with my old 5Dc. Of course I probably took more pics iin the period '62 to '75 (with a Nikon film camera) than I have since '76 to the present. I'm 90 and believe it or not, I'm slowing down some.

Exactly ! But not sure why you're responding to me. Do what is right for you. What is it to me that you have "several bodies and maybe a dozen lenses"? Or no money for mirrorless ? Or that you have a hobby you can spend $1000 a month on ? Nothing at all - probably only to you. I "found" the money, and mirrorless, my way 8 years ago - history to me - I have one camera and two (extremely good) Fuji XF lenses - fits my bill fine. And why do I need to tell this community that I have so much a month to spend on my hobby ? Irrelevant ! Certainly hope that, if I make it to 90, I'll still be in "slowing down mode" !

A little input as this festive season gets under way, Mike, from a simple enthusiast who embraced mirrorless in what may seem "mirrorless prehistoric times" to some of the "Hedgehog DSLR stalwarts".

Your post title asks "Would you do it again ?"

Simple answer - yes of course.

Slightly longer answer, 'cos it's now after midnight here - I've "done it again" 6 times since 2013 when I "gave Fuji a go with the X-E1".

Look - you have to make your own mind up - chances are you'll only become more confused the more answers you get here. This site is full of questions similar to yours - and I don't blame posters for their answers - it's the purpose of this site.

Take a step back - ask yourself where you are right now, where do you want to go, what do you really need to get there - then look closely at where the different manufacturer's are going and with what products that might fill your own personal needs, and see if that helps.

Not rocket science - but once upon a time there was film, then came early digital, then DSLR, and now cameras without mirrors and all that entails - many call it progress, me included !

Lots of (mainly older fellas) here who "enjoy the joust". Nowt wrong with that, but problem for posters is the "joust" clouds the issue and gets them no further forward. Don't mean to "rain on the parade" of the regulars, but I have been here since 2012 ........ !

Take your time and - Happy Christmas !
