Hey all you Hoggers and Hoggettes! I want to get into portraits. I have a Nikon D700. Nikkor 28-300, 50 f/1.8 and a 80-200 f/2.8. All FX lenses. Thinking about a Nikkor 85 f/1.8. Do I need this or will the 80-200 f/2.8 be suffice? Also, any opinions on good inexpensive lighting kits? Thank you all!
Checked the number on the site. After 2006 the end run stops at 1075111. My number starts with 108. Does that mean it was built recently? Like within the last few years?
Thanks guys, you're the best! I feel very fortunate to be a part of this forum. Thanks, again!
Hey Hoggers! Just bought a new Nikkor 80-200 f/2.8 AF-D zoom. I noticed there is no serial number on the lens. It is a USA model. The number is on the box and the 5 year extended warranty card. Is this normal? Also, is there any way to determine the year of manufacture? Thanks.
I'm looking for a Nikkor 85 f/1.8!
Nice, James. Very creative!
Once again the Hogs have come through. Thanks everyone for your imput. Your opinions and advice are invaluable!
Thanks glgracephoto. I checked Ken's reviews. He likes the lens, but does give it a few knocks, such as too much plastic used in the build .
Need some help Hogs. Searching for a used or new 80-200 f/2.8 Nikkor. In my search I'm finding a few of the older AF-S models. Prices used are about the same as a new AF model. Are these AF-S models better than the newer AF ones? I have a D700, so I can utilize both lenses. In my research I learned that this was Nikon's first attempt at a motor driven autofocus lens. So is their first Silent Wave Motor worth used what I can get a new AF model for? And what about build quality and performance? Thanks.
Oh, wait, that was the plate in my head. Loose screw!
I just checked my D700 and it's there! Now what!
