EDIT: Follow-up. The switch-back went quickly this time, barely fifteen minutes. The electricity flicked off a couple of times, but it turned out all right - APC UPS. His Internet problem was only for Chrome, so now he's sing Edge, like me.

Turn off auto update till you find out which file is trying to update to 11 and isolate it. I did this when 10 was trying to do the same. Worked just fine. I eventually went to 10 but did a full format and a clean install. IMO, much more reliable. Also a PIMA, why I always say...only keep OS & programs on C drive, everything else on a secondary drive.
