I don't remember the names of any of the instructors. The person who taught the clay sculpture course was very tolerant of me. I also took a competitive religion course at the New School at the time, it was eye opening.

I don't either, but I recall Abe. Photography and dark room. I believe he was quite involved at the time with Holograms. I tried looking him up but can't find anything. Not sure what that means... :(

Must have just missed you, mid 70's at NY School of Visual Arts for me. If I recall, Abe Ressne (spelling?) was my dark room teacher.

Mine aren't long, certainly not more than 10'. The wires stay connected, but the connection gets lost, like today for example. I had to unplug and re-plug to get the speakers working. I'm using a 6' version of the one below.

Now that you mention it, I've had a couple braided USB's , 6'ers...if I recall they would in fact lose signal to the peripherals. It's a while ago, but probably why I never ordered them again. I know they seem better...like the Gold HDMI cords, not really any better than just a good quality cord.

Everything operates with USB connections these days, and that's a big improvement over serial and parallel cables. One big problem, though, is being able to connect all the USB devices. I use hubs when I can, but sometimes, I need a USB extension cord. The problem is that the connections fail periodically, and I have to find the connection point, unplug and re-plug. I've tried quite a few extension cords, and they all fail occasionally. Maybe there is some kind of goo I can put in the connection to maintain contact.

So - goo recommendations?

How long do you need? Before longer cords were available I used to use a garbage bag tie to secure the two together, then wrap electrical tape around the coupling and secure the tie. Never had a problem. Used to be you weren't supposed to use longer than 15'. Now I have a couple 32 footers running to my printers.

I posted yesterday that my son inadvertently updated to Win11. It took a looong time to roll back to Win10. This morning, it's back to Win11, and he can't connect to the Internet. The message said something about "side-to-side" in the Users folder. "Use sxst...exe" I wasn't able to start sxst..., whatever that is. So now, we're waiting and waiting for it two revert back to Win10. Will it continue to revert to Win11?

EDIT: Follow-up. The switch-back went quickly this time, barely fifteen minutes. The electricity flicked off a couple of times, but it turned out all right - APC UPS. His Internet problem was only for Chrome, so now he's sing Edge, like me.

Turn off auto update till you find out which file is trying to update to 11 and isolate it. I did this when 10 was trying to do the same. Worked just fine. I eventually went to 10 but did a full format and a clean install. IMO, much more reliable. Also a PIMA, why I always say...only keep OS & programs on C drive, everything else on a secondary drive.

My laptop is quite new I got it in April this year.
It has the 11th generation I7, 32GB RAM, Nvidia RTX2000 GPU with 4GB of RAM. 1TB of SSD. 2560x1600 16" screen.

Type "PC Health Check" in search window, follow prompts. It'll tell you why you can't.

At 71 I'm more than happy to sit at my grand kids table on Turkey day. Less stressful, no politics, no heart burn, just overall more pleasurable. It's also funny to watch their reactions and facial expresions to whats happening at the adults table.

Sounds like it's on a 3- way. With a few different ways a 3-way can be wired...do a bit of research or call a qualified electrician.
