This is a really cool bug. I've never seen a bug with decorator floral prints for wings. :) Great shots.

I found this little guy clinging to the ceiling. So I captured it in a cup, in which it crawled around for a short while. But then started showing signs of lethargy. Eventually, he fell to the bottom of the cup and didn't move anymore. So he was fairly easy to pose. I would hate to have to buy glasses for these guys. :)

This one is advertised in PopPhoto all the time. It fits onto the LCD and magnifies the screen.

First thing, always take the batteries out. Electrolysis starts immediately. Second thing, remove or open all covers that you feel comfortable opening, point openings downward and shake. Then use the hairdryers (or hot dashboard during the drive home on a sunny day, or defroster/heater during a cold day.)

I'm an electronics technician, and I've seen radio equipment dunked in just about everything. These are the first things I do with anything that comes in wet. You don't want to know the things I do as a last resort when drying doesn't work!

Glad your camera survived.

Further to this, and not to be the bearer of bad news, but do not be surprised if somewhere down the road....could be a few weeks or even a few months...that the camera and/or flash start acting up or even quit altogether. I used to repair electronics that have been water damaged. Most times, the water and moisture over time, will begin to corrode the circuit boards. If you feel inclined, I would send it to be disassembled and cleaned by a professional who can dry it out completely.
Just my 2ยข. :)

Just curious. . .I've been following Ugly Hedgehog for over a year and recently joined because I love the variety of topics and the good information in the responses, but does anyone on this forum shoot with something besides a Canon or Nikon? I mean, if I didn't know better, based on the discussions I'd think they're the last two standing.

I shoot with Sony cameras and love them.

Same here. I own 4 Sony cameras and still use all of them.

I tweaked your image: added a little exposure, contrast, color saturation, and sharpness.
Thanks. I had forgotten about the background throwing the exposure off. I replaced my white card with something closer to an 18% grey and I'm getting much better results. :)

WOW! these are all great! but I really like # 5 the most, in it he's ready for whatever
Same here. Wow, some very nice shots. But especially #5. It looks like a real poser. :)

It could be lighting - as in there needs to be some shadows or the image will look flat with no depth.

I believe you are correct. I went back after reading another post of someone having the same problem, and shot it again with a different background. It came out much sharper. I haven't downloaded the photos yet, but on the camera, I could see a drastic improvement. Thanks for your input. :)

Either buy it from Sony direct or go with B&H or Adorama. I have bought from Sony as well as B&H. B&H has a great reputation and they will stand behind everything they sell. I just got my A65 and I absolutely love it.

H Nickonian 72 Have checked all data i can find and the black and white markings of this baby say it's not the one you suggest so are going to pass it on to the Auckland domain for i.d. thanks for the try. macromad.
hmmm....looks exactly like the one Nikonian72 posted. The markings of the legs, body and antennae are identical.

I found this spider who is no more than 2-3mm at most. I have tried shooting at a smaller aperture, a medium aperture...nothing seems to be working for me. I did get better results shooting at a medium aperture, rather than the extreme small end. However, I'm still not happy with the results. Is there something I'm forgetting? This is a crop of the original.

You were lucky to catch that. I had one in my back yard. He was there and gone so fast, I barely had a chance to aim and snap. Nice shot. :)

The WB was set to auto. I would change that to flash. That would help tremendously. Also, you might try setting the shutter speed to the sync speed of the flash, which should be 1/160.
