I am looking for a program to convert a color (or black & white) image to a detailed black and white "Pen & Ink" style image. I am looking at AKVIS sketch. Does anyone here have any experience with this $79/89 program. I did a quick search here and not interested in soft colored pencil sketch look..... Please feel free to post before and after images. OR make suggestions..............Thanks, Gary

I would guess that the focal length would depend on the working distance that you have between the subject and the camera. If you are looking for great background diffusion then you will want an f/2.8 or better.

I always shoot RAW for post processing...so that was not an option.

So, How big are the RAW files (on average) ??

One of the reasons I got rid of my D800 was because the images were so huge they became unmanageable. Most experienced photographers will agree that the "pixel war," now, is just marketing.

Could you have backed down from "Large - Fine" and gotten a smaller file size ??

[quote=Ron 717]I agree, sometimes it might be 3-4 weeks between print sessions and never an issue with Canon ink.

I try to run a small print once a week or once every two weeks at the most just to keep the heads flowing.....That's what I was advised to do and it seems to keep it working just fine !!

I also bought a pro 100 last year.
I Recently printed 25 13 x 19 prints without the need to replace any cartridges and that was using the best print quality.
I will stick with the Canon OEM cartridges.

Considering that a full set of ink runs around $125.00 If you got 25 prints that would be roughly $5.00 per print. NOT BAD !!

So Jerry, Are those CLI-42 cartridges ?? And how is the non Canon cartridge running now in your printer. I have been tempted to try "Non Canon" ink in my Pixma Pro 100, but have stayed away from it.

14-24 and the 28-300 should cover ALL your bases.

However, since you say this is not a "photo trip" On second thought, I might even drop the 28-300 and keep the 24-70 on my camera and use the 14-24 when I am in close quarters.

I have a D90,D600, and a D810. I have a Nikon 20mm 1.8G ED, a Nikon 70-200 2.8 VR1, a Zeiss Otus 1.4/85mm and the Nikon 28-300mm. Of these lens, my 28-300 gets used about 90% of the time. It is my walk around lens most days.
If I were to take a trip and only one lens, the 28-300 would be it.

How often do you shoot in the 200-300 range of your 28-300 ??
