Anyone here recently had their D850 shutter box replaced? If so, what was the cost?
Nikon will not provide me an estimate (or even a "rough idea") without examining the camera first.

Savvy eBayers might also take exception to fixed-amount shipping and/or sellers who make shipping a profit center. That said, it is a shame that eBay extracts it's 13% on the shipping costs as well as the item price, but I can see why.

Roger that, I can see why you asked here. Amazon reviews are mixed and it is always difficult to separate out user error, anyway. I did pick up some comments about the lock loose (shifting position), making it seem like the card was not working properly. Might be something to keep an eye on.

I understand that the gold standard are vests made by Billingham. Their website is quite informative. Their vests pop up infrequently on eBay.
Be careful of the cheap "fishing" vests that can be uncomfortable around the neck.
I also wanted to be sure my vest had epaulettes that could contain my camera strap to keep it from sliding off my shoulder.

The time and effort you have put into this posting is truly incredible.
I have seen shorter, sloppier, (lazy) attempts to market gear costing thousands of dollars. I love the the "pictures will be posted later when I have time". Of course, eBay can even be worse.
The UHH (Nikon) community should be quite grateful to have you as a member.

Excellent kit at a great price. I especially like the soft case you came up with. Too bad I've already invested in Godox hardware. You might want to confirm that these are for Nikon.

Some thoughts (some of which you may have already tried at this point)...

Use a mode other than Manual, maybe Auto.
Reset the Shooting Menu (if you can get to it)
Try cleaning the contacts for the lens (carefully!).
Try a different SD card (yours might be full, locked, or damaged)
When doing the two-button reset, make sure you press them for 4-5 sec.

Have you tried using Live View?

There is the possibility that pnerd is trying to do his fellow photographers a favor. $4350 is just a bit more than you would have to pay in San Francisco county (fair trade + tax) and actually less than you will pay in many other CA counties (10%+ in sales tax). The main advantage is that you have the Z8 NOW. Remember those outrageous Z9 prices for the first few weeks? He did make the offer pending his return of the item, so that clearly is an option for him.
Of course, finding a buyer willing to forego the warranty and show up with that amount of cash, is yet another matter.

According to the Amazon description, the Lightdow RF-550D has both "flash" and continuous modes. The flash mode is listed as a 1/100 sec exposure. So you probably don't want a camera shutter speed faster than that. At 1/500, I'm surprised you are not getting a few dark frames. Please keep us posted on your learnings... I've been toying with the idea of getting a ring light myself.
