Found this really cool old style art deco bus depot that has been converted into a burger joint. Had to take a picture and now I hope you folks will like to too. Located in downtown Evansville Indiana (as you can see on 3rd and Sycamore).

Great find and photo James! I'm happy to know this fine piece of historical architecture has been repurposed. It certainly evokes a time when bus travel was "a thing". I really appreciate your eye.

Nice set. My guess is unless they pull everything out by the roots to eat it the it shoudlnt contribute to soil erosion. I woukd also think their progress would be monitored so this didnt take place

Thank you. You are correct and they are closely managed. The are given more oversight and work a great deal harder than most of our elected offiicials! I appreciate your comment.

This is an esp. beautiful photo in download, thanks! Another fine little bird that I may never see... but I know where they live now. I had to look them up. I think our closest western counterpart might be the Pygmy Nuthatch. Nice work Piet, thanks!

What a buzzing beauty he was! Canon 70-200 and same settings for all: 1/4000sec, f3.50, iso800. Please click once on first (or double download) and download 2nd and 3rd. Anyone interested in the Hummingbird Clearwing Moth might like checking out this link.

Exquisite photos of an exquisite creature! I'm not sure I have ever had an opportunity to use that word twice in the same sentence but it is the correct word, I looked it up. Those transparent/translucent wings are perfactly caught. This is field guide quality work and that is ment is a high compliment. Thanks for the link, the Hummingbird Clearwing Moth is someone to know!
edit: I just carefully looked at all of the photos in your link, your photos are superior!

There is a steep hillside next to the historic Angels Flight funicular in downtown Los Angeles where they brought in a herd of goats to clear the brush. Too steep for lawn mowers and a potential fire hazard. What a kick to see the goats among all the steel and glass high rise office buildings...but effective. Jak

Thank you for the visit and comment Jak! Yes, I love those moments of visual contrast.

Neat idea (and nice pics, BTW). One of our mines used cattle on their slag piles. The idea was to break up the surface to catch and hold water better and add fertilizer so that stuff would grow. It took awhile, but it worked.

Thanks for the kind comment Kathy! The idea makes a lot of sense to me.

Nice set, Phil and know that this control method has been used in Virginia, but don't know what the current status is.

Thanks Corky! It is a very workable method, and they are fun to watch.

Interesting series my friend, amazing what these goats do, I still remember the Oakland hill fire. Hope they enjoy the great view of the bay area they have. We had them clearing some area here by the SF airport, they did a great job. Thanks for posting .

Thanks very much Mike! They are amazing. I have very strong memories of that 1991 fire, it burned to within a few blocks of my house. These shots overlook the area where many homes were lost. I appreciate your visit, be well.

We need herds of these goats to control our kudzu problem down here in the South.

Stan

Thanks for the comment Stan. Interesting thought about the kudzu, out here it the invasive water hyacinth we could use more help with. I don't know if goats are willing to swim for dinner.

If they are like our goats, they will eat the trees, weeds, etc., but they will hardly ever eat the grass if there’s anything else around.

Thanks John! They are a very effective solution to poison oak.

Great series! They work hard, they work cheap, and they spend very little time gossiping around the water cooler. Excellent employees!

Thanks Randy! And you can eat the recalcitrant ones. That sound a little dark but I lived in West Africa for two year....goat is tasty if properly prepared.
