LOL - these little birds are very common here. Perhaps the only thing more common in the marshy areas are mosquitoes and flies. They are spunky little birds - If I set next to the birdfeeder I can snap shots of them with 100mm lens at 18 inches. The chickadees want to come in for seed then, but wait until I go away. Not the nuthatches, they will swoop down with abandon.

This is an esp. beautiful photo in download, thanks! Another fine little bird that I may never see... but I know where they live now. I had to look them up. I think our closest western counterpart might be the Pygmy Nuthatch. Nice work Piet, thanks!

Great shot! I spent hours and hours tramping all over N. Florida before I added this species to my life list.
