Tommy F,

Not true! If the couple choose the church wedding,
God was, by choice and location, included.

Most Ministers & Priests I have known have had no objection to unobtrusive, non-flash photography, but flash is generally an invasive interruption! The clergy in charge of the ceremony sets the rules; follow them!

Via,

Thanks for the very complete explanation. I think I understood most of it, but at this point with perhaps two or three years of digital experience & 50+ with film, I'm not going to worry about it and will instead use the + or minus 1-3 feature in my camera--when I think of it . :D

Boston & Cape Cod shouldn't be too cold, although they can be wet; however shelter in the way of a good Pub won't be too far away.

Portsmouth,Kennebunkport, ME will be considerably cooler and with more chances of snow and/or a Nor'easter. The further north (actually ME is North East or "down east")you go the more the chance of snow.

Jackson will be colder and there is a good possibility of snow in November.

We lived in Andover, MA--20 miles north of Boston--for 32 years, and it was not unusual to have snow before Thanksgiving; more north more snow.

No matter what the weather, enjoy your trip!

I've read reports that almost all his published photos were pretty much created in the darkroom, and there are thousands that never saw the light of day as he wasn't satisfied with them. I think they are still in existence, but never to be released.

He was a great photographer and truth be know even a better processor. Yeah, I know Heresy, but....

My sympathies! I had the same problem with the importation from Vista Basic to Win 8; the only way I could get them was to burn the PSE10 catalog in the Vista machine to three DVD's, and the upload them onto the Win8 computer. The files burned as one folder even though I had told it to maintain original file structure, so I spent weeks rebuilding the Catalog. For this and other reasons, well documented on the web, I HATE WIN 8!!

From what I read the Win8.1 isn't going to be much of a "fix"; Microsoft had tried to do it "on the cheap" and force a tablet and phone OS to work on a real computer and failed big time. Computer users don't want or need all those damn apps

The picture isn't complete; the dogs have a water bowl, but where's the beer cooler? Did you Photoshop it out?

During the 50's there was a lot of surplus B&W film on the market from WW II, and we never had problems with it. In the 60's we bought 35mm B&W in bulk and re-filled used cartridges with it, didn't have a problem with that either. As has been said storage is more important than age, we kept it in airtight containers in the freezer. Just make sure you give it plenty of time to warm up and dry out before you use it--a couple of days at least.

Oracle's incredible improvements were achieved, it seems, after 30 - that's THIRTY - boat builders from New Zealand (Oracle was built in New Zealand) were flown in to San Francisco. This was revealed by a reporter on a Television New Zealand Breakfast Show this morning, Tuesday 17th Sept, when it was still Monday 16th in San Francisco.

So instant shiploads of cash is not Oracle's limiting factor.

Now I don't feel as magnanimous as I did. I sincerely hope Aotearoa beats Oracle into abject humiliation twice tomorrow, our Wednesday, and Tuesday in the usa. We have a warm resting place here for our Cup.
2 to go! Roll on!
Mike Gallagher,
New Zealand.

ps - I wouldn't have thought there was enough money anywhere to buy 30 NZers. Ellison must be even wealthier than he has let on.

And you are surprised that one, and if truth be known there are probably several, team(s) using imported "foreign" help or material!

As a long time sailor and America's Cup enthusiast--I can remember seeing the Weatherly practicing on Long Island sound--I think the spirit of the AC went to hell when they started to loosen the one country participation and equipping rule for the the boats. Now we have international (I was going to say 'polyglot' but I'm being nice) professional skippers & sailors, design teams and builders from all over so it is no longer a Country vs. Country race. Then to further kill the 'sporting' aspect of the race Dennis Conner raced a catamaran against the big NZ sloop off San Diego some years back. Next came the AC Class boats and the horrific expense associated with them and design took precedence over sailing skill; the foreseeable result then was "under design" and one of the NZ boats broke in half during trials and sank fortunately lost no sailors because the designers cut the margins just a bit too thin.

The result of all these "improvements" to the series is that "real sailors" defined as those who own family cruising or small racing boats, mostly do not relate to the boats (+ US$ 500,000 for a boom--give me a break) have no interest in the races, and don't give an International Damn who wins.

Just one old sailor's viewpoint, and it echos what I hear around the marinas.

I used Picassa for editing until we took a cruise on a Holland America ship and they had a free course sponsored by Microsoft on using Windows Live. I found it to have more features than Picassa and switched to it for a year or so. It's "stitching" function is especially easy to use.

After joining the local Photography Club, I purchased PSE10 and now use it almost exclusively (still use Win Live for stitching), but it is not intuitive and would suggest taking a basic Photoshop Elements course to learn your way around the features.

I tend to use Shutter Priority and set it quite high, seldom less than 1/200 and frequently 1/000+, then let the camera take care of aperture. I do a lot of shooting out on the water and both the boat and the subject are generally moving. If I want a greater DOF obviously I have to back off on the speed, but as I get older, my hands are not as steady as they were when I was using a Voigtlander folding bellows camera. I also try to keep the ISO under 400 and very seldom let it go over 600; then it's PSE to the rescue!
