We have them here too but they frown on us shooting them.
I've tried beheading one with a sword, but they run faster then I do.

I'm fortunate that it's not frowned upon here to have and to use a firearm

Can you afford one?

Fortunately I don't have to since we have free range organic turkeys in the yard.

You’re lucky. Both UPS and now FedX have taken to just throwing my packages in the driveway (where anyone passing by can pick them up) 500’ away and out of sight from my house. On the other hand, Amazon invariably comes up the driveway and places it by my door or in my garage. When I’m choosing where to buy a product, guess who gets my business?

Yesterday, I was going to order some special half mirrored light bulbs. At 1000bulbs.com, where I have purchased in the past, they were $4.23 in 10 piece pricing plus postage/shipping. Amazon had the same bulb, by the same manufacturer for $2.16 with next day delivery and zero shipping cost. It reminds me of what an anti trust said about IBM in the 60s: “ it appears to me that the only thing they are guilty of is doing what they do better than anyone else” or words to that effect.

I hope you realize that occasionally Amazon will use FedEx UPS and even the USPS to deliver for them.
It's not all self delivery yet.

Hello- is there any benefit one way or the other, in using an AC-powered external hard drive vs a portable usb-plug in drive? To be used at home for storage of new photo files since my C drive is almost full. Thanks!

I have always suggested that people have more than one backup for important pictures and at least one of them be off premises whether in the cloud or even a hard drive kept elsewhere.
This way you are protected against any type of failure and the off premises copy serves to protect you against the potential physical problems which can affect your home such as fire tornado or other disaster.
Most people don't think about this until the time they are actually seeing someone who is sifting through the debris that was the home and they come across the remains of an irreplaceable picture that is now ruined.

I like to contaminate the cranberry sauce with some fresh minced mint leaves or even dried mint if that's all that is available.

Interesting side topic. A major downside of mirrorless cameras is how easy dust gets on the sensor. Thus I try to minimize changing my les in the field. Thus I might use a 24-70 range on my Sony A7R4 and use my Sony RX100 VII for the 70-180 range, if I need a longer reach. When I go to Iceland in December,if I am shooting while it is snowing, I am not going to want to change my lens.

The practical side of using two cameras.

Thanks for pointing that out since I occasionally change a lens in the field and I am getting my first mirrorless by Christmas.
I'm getting a Sony A7RII once again I'm going used and a couple generations old but for a third the cost of the current one.

You don't have to be rich to own a good Canon - there are heaps of bargains on the secondhand market. (Mainly from people who find their phones do a better job)

While my phone has a higher megapixel count my Canon cameras take superior images.

Have bought all but one camera and two lenses used over a considerable period of time at great prices, always after they were a bit obsolete, but still excellent. Did the same with racing bicycles in other days. Your money goes a long way and you get great gear. I've been fortunate enough to be able to keep it all.

That is my case as well.
My bodies are a few generations old but still very good as are my best lenses.

I mentioned a few days ago that the power button on my son's 8" Kindle stopped working, just like the one on my 10". With Christmas fast approaching and the Kindle on sale for $44, I ordered one for him. Then I took his Kindle apart and "repaired" it. Don't ask me how I fixed it because I don't know. I poked around inside for a while, and now it works. The new 8" Kindle arrives tomorrow. I guess that will be mine.

For the rank and file Conservative Republicans Trump is almost history. IF he goes through the 2024 primaries and comes out the winner for the Conservative side then I would of course v**e for Trump AGAIN against any Democratic challenger. But other than that I would not push for Trump's cause. There are other Conservatives candidates out there who would do a fine job as President. Not so many if ANY Democratic candidates though.

But you and David Martin are correct. As is shown on this forum every day it is the Left who continues to bring up Trump, who continues to have him live in their brains. Democrats NEED Trump just as they need Big Oil, G***n E****y, Big Business, R****m etc. as something to tell their constituents, we are fighting for you. Problem is, not one of these entities is a problem to speak of, only to Democrats.

I don't push his cause or any cause other than facts.
Fact is that Biden won the e******n which many on the right refuse to accept.
Also fact is that the left continues to point out Trump's shortcomings in a weak attempt to cover up the fact that Biden is proving to be not up to the task.
Personally I suspect that some of his backers were sure he would fail which can leave anyone else looking like an improvement.

Really a reading list of opinion pieces from left-of-center sources that have decided to call Trump followers a cult, adds little to the conversation. Especially since I've said that many Independent and Republicans have moved on. But it does show how Dems have not.

Not to mention that the articles were all written several months ago even though they are being used to attempt to show current reports, further proving that the Dems are refusing to move on.
