Hi, I have a IIIc that I purchased new in 1960. As far as I know, it works. Have not used it in 20 years. Let me know if you are interested. I have no idea of what it is worth.

Great pics . I am also an ex naval aviator from the late 50s through the late 60s and have visited this museum in the past. Would love to stop and see the latest displays and the new building. Will make a point of it next time in the Fl panhandle.

Fastone image viewer is a freeware excellent viewer that has some basic editing capability and a nice slide show function.

Electric heat sticks are available on Amazon normally used in gun cabinets. Low wattage slight heat helps to dry out any closed area and are cheap.

I also have been using card readers for many years. Never had a card reader failure and all devices cost less than $20.
I agree that most likely the failures were caused by "Head Space". Use reasonable care in inserting and removing the memory cards and you won't have any problems.

I use both external drives and online backup. External is standard 5 TB usb drive. Online is Idrive which costs $52.12 for 2 TB promo for first year, $104.25 for two years. 5TB is only $74.62 first year and $149.50 for two years. I have had excellent service from them for the past 4 years.
The RAID idea is good too but you are at risk if the house burns down or you have a burglary.
