Just wanted to say, Yes Mirrorless cameras are small and lite. However, the sensors generally are still smaller than Crop frame and definitely smaller than Full frame. Therefore you generally lose on sensitivity, contrast, and image quality because in order to get high mega pixels, they have to be stuff tighter into the smaller size sensor. Especially when compared to the high end DSLR's.

The Sony NEX range of cameras use APS-C size sensors and as Cdouthitt as pointed out most SLR's use sensors of this size, (so capable of excellent quality) The APS-C size sensor allows the NEX range to be small and lite. It's a matter of compromise. If you want a full frame the A7/A7R is a little bigger but will give quality equivalent to many full frame SLR's.

I have Sony's NEX-6. Great camera but it might be worth waiting until next month when the replacement for the NEX-7 is rumored to appear. (Although I don't think it will be called NEX). Also Sony are now making some top quality lenses for this camera range.

Some of the great photojournalistic shots are great because they not only tell the story, but the composition of the photograph is also great and helps in every way to convey that story.

I have the NEX-6. Brilliant camera but for professional use I feel you would also need a DSLR, especially if used in conjunction with studio flash. But for certain types of photography the NEX-6 & 7 are ideal.

Although technically shutter lag isn't the correct term for the time it takes between pressing the shutter release and the actual exposing of the image on the sensor, we all know what it means, and evan SLRs have a delay whilst the mirror rises and (with a A/F lens) the lens focuses, albeit minimal. The Sony NEX-6 & 7 have minimal delay, but I'm not sure of the rest of the NEX range

What about the NEX-6? Very simualar spec to NEX-7 but less expensive (less Megapixels but includes the electronic eye level viewfinder same as the 7). The NEX series also worth looking at as it has a larger sensor- APS-C as aposed to Panisonics Micro for thirds.

Does it matter if the printer is on or off when it is not used for a period? Mine is an older Epson R2400.

I also had a R2400, (I now have the R300). When I bought it a rep from Epson told me to leave it on to help prevent the ink jets clogging, I did as suggested and had no problems regarding this. It would be interesting to know what the official Epson policy is.

Brush your cat every day....get a good vacuum cleaner and use it often. Of all the things I worry about getting in my camera, cat hair has never been on that list.

I have never had a worry about this problem either. But our dog, when a puppy chewed my mobile phone beyond repair. Luckily it was a cheap one

Just remember that there are some dipwads who buy quality lenses and cameras that really do not know who to use them properly. This results in their negative reviews and that's a shame for the others who want to invest in a quality lens. Check other sources from pro users and websites, hope you find the reviews you need to make the right choice for you. :)

Thanks. Yes I'm waiting for some of the Pro reviews but being a new lens that might be a little while

For $1,000, I'd want nothing but excellent reviews.

Yes Jerry, I do agree, but some sample photographs using the lens might not have been taken with adequate care. The results from the 2 web sites mentioned vary so much, (even though I realise the methods/subject matter is so different) that I wonder if there is another reason, other than the lens is not as good as it should be for that sort of price.
The majority of reviews are good, but I think that no matter how good the product is there is always someone who will not like it for one reason or another.

You will certainly need fast focusing. It might be worthwhile taking a look at the Sony NEX-6 or NEX-7.

I would greatly appreciate the views of any member who has purchased the new Zeiss 16–70 f4 lens for Sony NEX cameras, relating to quality/definition of image and speed of focus.

Have found these couple sites with conflicting sample images.

Hi Rocky
The problem with digital cameras is their complexity. For 30 years I taught photographic technique at an Art College and we used Pentax K1000’s. The 33 page instruction book for the K1000 not only gave excellent guidance on how to use the camera but also a basic introduction on the techniques of photography. My Nikon D300 has a 421 page instruction book, all on how to use the camera. Somewhere hidden within those pages is the camera that I want to use. I think the secrete is to only learn the bits that you need for the type of photographs you wish to take.

I believe most photographers clean their lenses to often. First look at the surface carefully; most of the time you will only see dust spots. Use a blower (such as a Giotto) to get rid of these. More stubborn ones can be removed with a blower brush.
I would only use a cleaning cloth or lens cleaning solution if the lens surface looked as if it needed it, then using the cloth very lightly over the lens surface. Only touch the surface of your lens with a cloth if absolutely necessary.

I had an Epson R2400 for many years without any ink clogging problems. I now have the R3000 and as yet no problems.
