Welcome aboard. Good shot, well done.

I love sports photography and the technical aspects of needing to know your camera and lenses to shot 1/750 to 1/1500 shutter speeds in low (crappy) lighting without flash (gymnastics mostly). I'm always trying new things and expanding my portfolio.

Here's an example of my work to give you perspective on what I shoot and skill level.

Oh yea it is, I know.
I shoot RAW+JPEG Fine, I can go all day on the 8 or 16 gigs. I have not have the chance to really try to test 32 but the counter shows I can shoot more than I can shoot in a day. I am fine with my 4s' and 8' too, I just got the others just in case. Better to have more than short.
Thank you for the reply.
Enjoy your new toy.

I haven't tried anything else except the two gigabyte card it works fine and that's really all I need in it for now. My original camera now has a brand new 32 GB and that's more than enough!

I have D200. I got mine November a year ago. It came with a couple of 4 gig cards. I have purchased a couple of 16 gig Centron cards that work fine plus a 32 gig SanDisk Extreme that works fine too. I can tell by the expected capacity count that it sees, recognizes and can utilize the full 32 gig amount.
I checked the version on mine and it is 2.01. I have also read other reports of this same issue you have. Some will take a 16 to 32 gig card, some will not ????? Beats the Hell outta me what it is. But ! you do have two good cameras. Yea yea they are 2006 models but hey, they work damn good especially for the price. I just recently purchased a lens from a member here and he has two D200s' also plus a ff camera.
He likes his too. Oh hey, my truck is a 2002, I have two Miata's , a 2000 and a 2001SE. So. If you find out why the one will not take a 32 gig, please let us know. Have you tried a 16 gig in it just to see if that will work ? Thanks.
Curious Bruce.

Looking for some insight . I've owned a Nikon D200 since 2006. It's been a great camera and still is. Have been using a San Disk 2gb compact flash card since probably 2008. Have had zero problems. Today, I made a stop at one of the local pawn shops and found a mint looking D200 in its original box. It was a body only, no charger, no flash card.... I go out and pull the flash card and charged battery out of my camera, install in the shop camera to check it out, and it works fine! I make the purchase for $75, stop at the local best buy for a new compact flash card... a san disk 32 gb. Go back out, install in my new camera and it wont work! Has a flashing "CHN" code. The manual says the card is not Nikon compatable. I take the new card out of the "new" camera and put it in my old camera and it works fine. Again I put my old 2gb card in the new camera and it works fine. What can the difference be in the two cards?

My questions is this...since it is rather heavy do I really need this lens to be my "go to" lens? Is there another lens that would also work?

I am an professional artist (painter) that loves to take images of her dogs and the Taos, NM countryside. (The Micro will be to take images of my work plus my students work.)

I have to say this group is not only realllllly wonderful but you are a hoot! I love this group of photographers and I trust your advice.

I wouldn't dare post an image of one of my photographs as you guys are way too good...maybe after I learn about the D850.

You got that right.
It is interesting how all kinds of comments regarding certain topics generate an such an pouring. This is going onto 5 pages now on a simple post of humor. We all could start our day with a smile couldn't we ?
I live in Texas USA, Central time zone, -6 GMT. So, I receive the daily at 4:30Am.
OK, now, I have recently been thinking about posting a humorous post, photography centered of course. Now my imagination is really getting tickled to stir up the stink pot some more too, just to see what would happen. One thing we all have to do is just keep it real. Have some fun, enjoy life.

Perhaps this should have been put in the "non-photography" section as that is where the humor is.
I am laughing AT all the negative comments AND commenters (the mature ones) that don't get it. I am not LOL! I am LAUGHING OUT LOUD!
Thanks for the post kktim

I looked at this and you know, you are right. I know myself, mine needs work on correct writing and I see bad grammar and punctuation all over the place. You post prompted me to do just that.
Now my issue is that I look forward the new daily post at 4:30am. I am retired now so I am still in bed reading it with my iPad. So, voice recognition for text typing is almost if not worthless on the iPad. So I finger type any replies. It is hard to spell check laying on my back doing this so later I see the mistakes.
So, your post was what I needed to re-freshen correct writing.
Thanks for posting this.
Bruce.

Good post George.
I have the Samsung galaxy s6, its' camera does a good job for what I use it for. It is not the same 'tool' as my nikon point'n shooter or the d200 real cameras.
What is so good about these things today is the incredible range of options we have. Yes a cell phone camera today is really very good and capable as already known. However, even the pocket cameras, DSLRs, Mirrorless options are beyond comprehension with features, functions, options, not to mention the outstanding images being able to obtain, including the cell cameras too. We have SOOOOOOOOOOOO many options today. There is something for everyone regardless of money limits or not, experience or not, ergonomics; I am left handed; uses, underwater, landscape, nature, etc. etc. etc. Many of us here can remember living in a world before cell phones and digital cameras, iPads etc.
Who knows what tomorrow will bring ? A new topic of conversation of many pages.
Ok, I am jumping off my soap box, Ya'll have ah good day now, ya hear.

Thanks for bringing up a good subject. This is often discussed and often comes to the same end, I.e. compact cameras, like cell phones, are small too...so the better choice. What I still wonder is about the numbers: which is better, cell phone or compact camera, in ways that can be measured. Not trying to be obnoxious here; just trying to understand real differences.

I agree Mark;
I have a few and use them. Everyone should have a reader. I was addressing the USB issue on his puter which is a Windows common thing. I believe the reader will work fine for him. I have a Nikon L310 point'n shoot my son gave me and I have to use a card reader for it because the camera will not connect to any puter. I use it for quick shots and some video. Can't go wrong with a good reader.

Why not just purchase a reader - very inexpensive, fast and convenient. I have two I've used flawlessly for 7 years with my Canon 5D MIII and 3 other cameras.

CaptainEd on the third page of the replies has what I think the problem is.
Windows USB cache will cause these kind of problems and the cache needs to be deleted. I have done this numerous times on my puters and others. My current DELL will drop the USB connection to the printer sometimes. I unplug it at the puter and power the puter off, when I power back up, most of the time it will work again. Later it will flake out again and then I go to Device Manager, the last listed devices is Universal Serial Bus controllers. Expand this and see the devices. My puter shows the Intel series stuff. What I look at is the Generic USB Hub, mine shows 2. USB Root Hub, mine shows 2 being the USB 2 and the USB Root Hub (USB 3.00.
I right click on these and choose Uninstall Device. When the mouse and keyboard USB is removed they stop working, this is Ok, I just power the puter off and back on. Windows rebuilds the USB devices on start up. This is how the cache is deleted. I noted the ones I deleted and then go back and deleted the others. then restart the puter and the USB port is now refreshed and working. Windows is stupid in this way so this is the fix. I am running Windows 10 Pro. Dell desktop. There are UTube videos on this too. Plus if you google this there is a lot of this too, it is a common Windows issue. Since your stuff works on the laptop and other devices this tells you it is not your camera but the PC.

I have a Canon 5D Mark III camera that I have had no problems in the past connecting to my Dell computer and downloading photos. Then all of a sudden a week ago - the computer quit recognizing the camera was attached. My EOS Utility program that downloads my photos from my camera to my computer no longer recognized my camera was connected and in my computer settings my camera was no longer recognized as being connected. I have uninstalled my EOS Utility several times - hoping this was the problem - but to no avail. I even downloaded the program from the Canon website - but it still doesn't work. Thinking it might be a driver, (I checked my shutter count on my camera with a site someone had suggested on this forum - and had to change a driver), I reinstalled a driver for the EOS Utility program from the Canon website - but that didn't work either. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions to try - please help. (And no comments about it being a Dell and not Apple either, please:-) Thank you for any suggestions. Oh yes, my camera is able to download photos using my laptop with the EOS Utility - so I don't think it is my camera??? I have also changed connecting cords and that doesn't help either.
