Is "NOT ADVERTIZING" a problem?.. There will be geezers like you and me, mostly old, like you, that are independant thinkers, who don't need to travel with the masses, as they say. It is certainly NOT that they know better, it's just their security in numbers issue and insecurity with independant thinking, keeps them canon and neekon supporters.. I have yet to witness evidence of those brands superiority, have you??

Canon's good, nikon's good, sony's good and many other cameras are good to very good...But what they each do to stay in business, and to fry their competition, seems always to be the what motivates them. Underdog smunderDOG, I'm going with a company that has been trying to swim UP-STREAM since its' beginning. I'm still likeing their products, especially their glass, ...as well as their work ethic, business ethics, and the hangin in there. I'll go with them, through a few more Owners, if need be.. Go honeywell, go hoya, go Ricoh, go....PENTAX, hell! for that matter, GO SEARS... RJM

I started with Pentax Spotmatics in the late 60's. I loved them. Shot them for ten years before moving to Canon.
When I went DSLR about five years ago, they where the first thing I looked at, since they had a soft spot with me. I was really dissapointed. Not because they weren't good, what isn't?
But because there was sooooo little of it.
The last thing I wanted was such a limited availability of resources and equipment, both new, but especially used opportunities.
I don't think that when out shooting, I have actually ever seen anyone using one.
I was quite disappointed.

It sounds as though you aren't an independant sort of guy.. You wanted the affirmation that others bought Pentax too? and you could get some recognition for pentax use? don't worry, all digital gear is pretty darn good, use what you will, but I kinda kept that soft spot for Pentax, years after my VietNam days with the "Spotmatic"

The K-3 looks like a very good Machine, but I'm still lovin my K-5 and new pieces of pentax Glass. Pentax K-5 s can be had for very good prices, and Adorama and B&H sell a lot of great deal, used lenses and bodies....Hold out for the K-3, and come back and tell us of your joy. RJM

My younger brother was a Navy photographer, and for the rest of his SHORT life, he used Canon. He advised me to do the same. When he died, at 32yrs, I inherited a number of canon bodies and some lenses. Many years later, those bodies also, died off. I bought a new a canon eos 30D, and other equipment, but my better quality lenses were Sigma made ( I could never afford L series lenses) all of that was good, but not great, and I bought a PENTAX K-01 mirror-less camera.kinda funky, but still very good photos, so...to use one system, I bought a K-5...Every lens I have for one works splendidly with the other, and I'm loveing it. I have since given all my Canon stuff to my son, and hope that he will take up the photography hobby.

Hey! I'm with you, but I don't get why this camera maker, who invented/perfected slr photography, seems to get the cold shoulder, these days. What's up with that? I love the STUFF, particularly their legitimate GLASS... WOW

I agree with anyone who suggests that you stay with one system and great glass. The fact that you can use all your glass on both cameras, randomly makes perfect sense. That is IF you believe that Nikon glass is the way to go, or if you find it acceptable. Changing to another company seems wasteful$$$$$ if you have been pleased with Lens results and images provided by one MAKER or the other.. These days in digital, it's still all about the results of your lenses..RJM

Over the years I have purchased from both, Adorama and B&H. I've had plenty of experience with both.. But, listen to this (even though I think that they are COUSINS, or something) Adorama, one time actually reduced a posted price for me, to clinch the deal. One time they even threw-in free shipping, when it wasn't supposed to be. What I'm saying here is that over the years I've found adorama to be reliable, somewhat flexible, honest, and many of their salespeople(though always accomodating and professional) are in possession of a sense of humor.... I can't quite explain why I've gone almost exclusively to Adorama, but for me ...they work, and they seem happy to WORK for me. RJM

Sage advice. I like that quite a bit..."if you are too lazy to use a tri-pod, accept what you get" I would add to that that you can expect what you'll get and should not be surprized.
