Finally, the colleague ignores the fact that naturally occurring fluoride is different than the refined sodium fluoride used to fluoridate water. The colleague makes various claims about studies or evidence but cites to nothing in particular. Finally, the colleague engages in the smear tactics so commonly used by proponents when fluoridation opponents cite evidence against this odious practice.

Total and utter nonsense. Dental health improved several hundred percent overnight. You did not have to be a scientist to see the need for teeth fillings for all classes of people, both children and adults almost vanished overnight after the introduction. Today I spoke with my dentist who confirms brittleness of teeth and mottling is not an issue in our area and any instance is certainly not the result of flouride. Detailed monitoring of all aspects of health were obviously intensified after flouride was intruduced and there was absolutely no evidence to show any detrimental effect of fluoride to health whatsoever. I think a period of well over 50 years more than speaks for itself and even amongst the cranks and the skeptics here, none of them amongst the several million people using fluoridated water is campaigning for a change, suggesting one or even raising a care. In fact, of the water filters that are sold here to remove all the nasties that can be in our water, the vast majority use as a selling point, that they do not remove fluoride.
