I have a Canon Pixma 110, portable. Battery powered. Awesome little printer you can take anywhere.

It prints great & the ink seems to go a long way.

I like that it has only 2 cartridges to fuss with. Black & Colour. Not 3 colour & a black like most printers.

This printer is a joy to own. So convenient & it's wifi too. Hooks up to my laptop & ipad, iphone no issues.

Well I am really happy to have an easy to read manual at hand.

You can't beat a proper book.

Trying to load, manipulate & read anything on a computer screen is a horses arse.

By the time you have farted around loading the pdf file etc, I'm done and having a beer.

Hi chaps!

I think one of the best accessories I've bought so far for my new camera, is the full, printed manual.

I refer to it whenever I use the camera and it's invaluable for a beginner like myself.

Got it on eBay for less than $20.00. A4, spiral bound, great professional quality print.

It would have been a total pain to print this myself. Over 200 pages.

I don't have any printers in miles of me so this was the only option.

Remember the good old days when stuff came with proper manuals ?

Just thought I'd share that.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

I only want to play around with it. Nothing serious. I have used Photoshop for years just to sharpen and adjust colours in various images.

I'm curious to see what you can do with these RAW files.

I'll try the Nikon Capture along with converting files to use in PS CS2.

Thanks again to all who replied.

Hi Chaps,

My Nikon P1000 camera supports RAW images.

I have the old, now 'free' version of Adobe Photoshop CS2.

Will that do the job, or do I need something better.

I haven't had a chance to experiment yet.

I've set my camera up to save both 'Fine & RAW' files.

Can anyone suggest the best inexpensive image software if PS CS2 is no good please.

Cheers

Hello RWR,

I never said I'd figured it out. I know absolutely nothing about photography.

I bought a camera & tripod, (my first real camera and I'm 58) last week.

I somehow got the plate half seated, the wrong way round. It looked to me like it was locked in place.

When I went to pack up after a couple of hours using it, the camera toppled off the tripod and fell about 3ft onto carpet.

As the camera I bought is so big & heavy, I was finding it difficult to seat on the head.

Hence I want a better, easier mount which this Benro looks like it has along with the micro adjustments it will give me.

Also, if I can get away with using this Benro head on my existing Befree stand, all the better. That's why I asked if it will fit.

I'm not a pro or even a serious amateur and have no desire to be. I just want to be able to zoom in on things like the moon and wildlife photography, ships at sea, aircraft flying over and take reasonable photos & video.

Cheers

Paul :)

Thanks Billnikon,

As a complete novice, I have no idea where or what to search for regarding tripods & head compatibility.

I tried to find answers to my question via google etc, but had no luck.

I'll check the thread measurements. Much appreciate the info.

Thanks Gene51,

I appreciate your advice. I will see how things go.

I will keep looking at other options as well.

I am a complete beginner & I've already managed to drop my new camera after owning it less than a week ! :(

It fell off the tripod as I thought the plate had latched, but I had it round the wrong way. It looked secure, but when I went to pack up, I picked up the tripod by the legs and the camera came loose & fell 3ft onto carpet.

No damage luckily. That's why I like the look of this Benro head. It looks easier to attach when you have a large heavy camera to deal with.

Cheers

It will fit - but do you really want to put a 2 lb head on such an unstable, light-duty (8.8 lb load capacity) tripod like the Befree?

Hi Gene51,

Not really, but I need the lightweight & portability. Also I don't plan on using it full height.

I will see how it goes and keep an eye on it.

Oh, & James seems to be happy.

Cheers,

Hi James,

Thanks for the response.

That is good to hear. I will order it.

My P1000 fell off my Befree tripod a few days ago, about 3ft onto carpet. Luckily no damage.

I don't care for the standard Befree ball head as I find it hard to attach with a heavy, awkward camera (like the P1000).

I somehow got it mounted the wrong way round, it felt like it had locked into place, but when I went to pack up, the camera just fell off.

I like the look of the plate that comes with the Benro. Looks idiot proof. (I am new to photography).

Thanks again for the info.

Cheers

Hi chaps,

I'm interested in getting a Benro GD3WH geared head.

I have a Manfrotto Befree tripod.

Does anyone know if this head will fit that tripod please ?

Cheers

I do not own a P1000 and thank you for adding your expert information to address this issue. While my suggestion may be of value to P500 owners, you provided a great solution to P1000 owners. Thanks for your help and suggestions. The people in this forum are very knowledgeable and helpful, for which I am very grateful!

Thanks Bobin,

I appreciate the thought and the link.

I had read about the same issue of the camera breaking from pressure where the plate screws in.

I'll keep an eye on it.

Cheers

Paul :)
