Hi,
I just purchased my first camera, a Nikon P1000 and a Manfrotto Befree tripod.
I have no idea what I'm doing.
My interests are mixed. Some wildlife, moon and general photography.
Hopefully I can learn something here.
Paul :)

Welcome Paul. Now get out and enjoy that new camera. As Country Boy said, "you will find
plenty of ideas here." There are many sections to the site. If you have a question you will
probably find the answer.
Hello Paul post pictures ask questions and most of all have fun. Saying hello from Pittsburgh.
Welcome to the forum!
I'd suggest reading the manual,
re-read the manual,
read the manual holding the camera,
then re-read the manual.
Digital cameras can do so much now.
You might want to check out

And a welcome from a fellow Brit, now living in Oregon. This is a very useful and helpful site.
Welcome Paul, I'm sure you will enjoy it here. Terry.
Welcome and enjoy. Lots of shared knowledge here.

I'm new to the world of digital photography. You are most welcome and safe here.
Best of luck to you.
Thank you all for the warm welcome.
Paul:)
I must admit, When I got the Nikon P1000 and felt the heft & weight, I wondered if I'd made a blunder ordering a Manfrotto Befree tripod.
But it is pretty solid even with the lens fully extended.
Now I need to learn the basics. The 'Sunny 16 Rule', F. Stops, ISO, Shutter Speed etc.
Are there any good books you chaps could recommend please ?
Paul :)
Welcome to the forum. Yes, Understanding Exposure, 4th Edition - by Bryan Peterson. Highly recognized as one of the best books and available at Amazon. I got back into photography about 3 years ago and consider YouTube as a great help on a variety disciplines. Of course, you have to filter out some stuff :)
Welcome. Step one: Get out there and enjoy your camera. Gradually, you'll discover what really moves you. You'll learn something with every photo adventure.
