Hello friends. I am trying to import the 428 photos from my iphone into my LR catalog and for some reason when I connect my phone to my Mac only the 4 most recent photos appear. I have successfully imported photos from my phone a year or so ago, but now they just aren't showing up. My iphone shows up in the left column under devices, but none of the photos that are on the phone are showing up (except for the 4 most recent.) Any suggestions? I've tried different USB ports on my computer, I'm using the apple cord, etc. I tried calling Adobe, but after exhausting their exceptionally long phone menu list...I was told there is no phone support for my problem. Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

The Sioux Falls Park offers great views of the Falls...be sure to stop there. Sioux Falls is a lovely small city...lots of great trees and a wonderful bike path which also offers great views of the river. The prairies as you head West are like oceans of waving grass...don't discount them. Foothills around Chamberlain are lovely. We recently had a huge sculpture of a Native American woman holding a star quilt (made of glass) installed at the rest stop at Chamberlain just off the I 90. Dale Lamphere is the sculptor, and it is an amazing and impressive sculpture celebrating our history. Of course, the Black Hills offers many beautiful sights. The Iron Mountain road is scenic and impressive...Mt. Rushmore, the needles, Sylvan Lake, Custer State Park. Outside of my hometown of Sturgis, SD, I would also recommend visiting and perhaps climbing Bear Butte which is a very popular and photographic landmark about 5 miles from Sturgis. This mountain is also a religious destination for many Native American cultures. I am a proud lifelong resident of SD so I would be happy to offer any other suggestions.

When I inserted my SD card in my camera's card slot...it just stayed there and wouldn't "eject" when I pressed on it. I initially thought the mechanism in my card slot had just malfunctioned or something. I had to pry my SD card out and decided, obviously, that I would need to have that fixed. The "fix" was more expensive than I thought it would be. Canon reported that the circuit board was not operating properly and the memory card could not be recognized. The circuit board was replaced. All of this made me wonder if I was doing something wrong by re-formatting my card often...or by just taking it out and putting it in. Has anyone else had this happen, I wonder???

I've learned much about SD cards just by reading each of your responses. Thank you.

Thanks again to everyone for giving me some great advice. It's been said before, but this is a great group of photographers who share knowledge and advice freely. I always appreciate being able to consult with you all.

That is exactly why I had to send my camera in...I inserted the card and it wouldn't pop out when I pressed on it to eject...but the formatting wouldn't seem to be that issue. Each time you take a grouping of photos and want to put them on your computer, you need to eject it. I suppose just putting it in and taking it out does eventually cause issues, but I sure missed my camera while it was in the "hospital" and I'm happy it is home again. It's been a great camera for me and I'd definitely purchase the 6D again. Thanks for your response.

Hi friends. I usually use an 8 gb SD card in my 6D...but once I import a group of pictures into my LR catalog, I have been re-formatting my card (in camera) just to start over and not have the old pics on the card...even if I only have a few photos on the card. Is this "hard" on a card? Are you in the habit of leaving older photos on your card until it is almost or completely full before re-formatting? I had a problem with my camera not ejecting the card so I recently sent it in to Canon for repair and they replaced a circuit because it wasn't reading the SD card. I don't know if that had anything to do with formatting and re-formatting, but I thought I would toss it out for you to see what you think. Thanks for your thoughts and Happy Fall!

I have the 17-40 and have been pleased with my results. Budget constraints keep me from going with the other great lenses mentioned. I recently took the 17-40 and my 24-105 for my 6D to Ireland and I'm pleased with the results. Good luck.

Are you clicking on the small arrow to the left of the preset name? My presets open when I click on that. They don't open when I click on the entire preset name. Try that. Hope it helps.m

I have a 2 TB EHD to store photos. I'm taking them from my laptop to the EHD to lighten up the photo load on the hard drive of my laptop, but it occurs to me that I just have the one EHD storing those photos so I'm thinking I probably need a "backup for my backup"! A friend of mine had everything from her computer (documents, photos, etc.) on an EHD which crashed and now is faced with paying a lot of money to have someone retrieve that information for her.

Thank you all for your perspectives and excellent informtion on this topic...as always.

I really appreciate the time you all took to respond and give me your opinions. You've given me a lot to think about. My thinking is that I should invest in another EHD, in any case. I think I'm a little confused about "backup" and "storage" and that probably comes through in my question. Thank you all again for the information. The folks on the UHH forum always come through for me.

Hi Friends. I hope the holidays were great for everyone. Sounds like folks found a few new "toys" under the tree this year. I have a question related to storage and backup. EHDs are known to fail...as several folks have said. I'm wondering if anyone uses a service like Carbonite to back up their photos in place of an EHD. I realize that you pay Carbonite a monthly service fee, but I'm wondering if just using such a service makes more sense than buying external hard drives which may or may not fail, at some point. I use Lightroom almost exclusively. Will Carbonite make it simple to access photos which can then be edited in LR? Thanks for the expert help.

This photo was shot when we recently visited Morocco. The sand dunes are a beautiful, vast, timeless landscape. We took a camel ride through the dunes and count it as one of the most treasured memories of our trip!
