The lighting is fantastic. I actually really like the uniqueness of the second photo - it's like a motion capture.
I wish her right leg were doing something in the second photo, but nonetheless, they are both exquisite.

I'd also like to avoid 400 bucks if I can.
Another unlikely one to find but does anyone have an OEM D850 battery pack (MB-D18) that they would like to move along?
Not looking for off-brand substitutes; Nikon only.
Thanks everybody. I haven't had issues with that shutter speed before but subjects were not in quite as much constant motion :)

That AI judgment will be in cameras in few years.
I sure hope not. When cameras replace the art, reward, challenge, failure, and everything imperfect in a photo with something it thinks is a better choice, I'm checking out.
IIRC'd wrong, evidently. Must have looked at another shot for those figures. I'll correct it. Thanks for the catch.
This is my niece Kennedy. KenKen for short, or K2 according to me because the girl is an adventure (2-1/2 on the money). Anyway, I'm trying to figure out what went wrong with this. I love the emotion this invokes and it looked great on my LCD, but on a monitor it is clearly out of focus. Time of day was about 4:30/5p behind the cabin so it was a lower-light situation. Is this poor focus, or movement capture? Anything else starkly wrong? It's driving me nuts because she posed well and gave me a lengthy CHEEEEEESE!
D850, 105mm macro 2.8 prime at f 7.1, 1/125th, ISO 1600 (IIRC). Handheld but I was on the ground, supported the lens, both elbows in the grass so I had a nice human tripod going.
This is probably a really long shot but I am looking for a photo-editing-quality monitor to replace the junker I have been using - my office setup included an extra monitor and my IT guys told me to take it home so.... Problem is, it changes color while I'm looking at it and prints of course come out looking goofy. And its small.
Ideally I'd like something 27+ but I'm open. Also I'm willing to drive a couple hours for it to avoid shipping.
Prefer a PM if you can, it keeps the communication channels and conversations separate.

I use a Tamron 45mm f/1.8 on a full frame Nikon D750. I have the book: Life in 50mm: The Photographer's Lens. There's a section in the book about Henri Cartier-Bresson. He's considered to be the godfather of street photography and used almost exclusively a 50mm lens.
Cool, thanks for the title rec - now I own it too :)
A 50 set to aperture-priority at f8 would be my choice for quick shots on the street.
I just got a lot of my free time back on June 29 so I'm sort of getting in to photography all over again. There were a couple times in the last 22 months prior where I'd get my system out and do some shooting but those times were literally months apart. I am just happy to be shooting again. That's been my goal, so yes, I am far ahead of where I was last year.
I'd like to grab a few lenses if I can and I desperately need a new monitor (almost anything would be an improvement) but it's all in small steps.
I like how Paul is nowhere to be found once he realizes people don't think he's funny.
C'est le vie.
PS - I want to know where these cheap D850s are too. I want at least one more as a backup. And I like the solid whack of a good shutter. It's like shifting a manual 'Vette vs just pushing a button on a Tesla.
Thanks for the thoughts folks. It's my wife's bar-cart in the background, and unfortunately didn't really pay any attention to it until afterward. Crops with it taken out look a bit off due to proportions, but I'll revisit them before printing.
No, this is NOT a sad post :)
The last time my mother-in-law was over I caught some really nice, soft natural lighting in our sunroom while she and my boy sat on the couch together. Needless to say, I pulled out my Nikon and started clicking. Of the 80some that came out of the shoot these are the core 21 that I like the most.
I'm linking a Pixieset album - https://natesphotography85.pixieset.com/caydenandgrammamccabe/ - so I don't have to upload ALL of them. Critiques are welcome so long as they're constructive. Per section rules though any technical discussions are probably best done via PM.

1) JFC these are good and solid. Especially that last one. Seeing this in my community, my city, is breaking my heart.
2) Awesome to see any Hogger in the area.
The system is less than a year old so I hope my card isn't already dying! It's a super cheap monitor though, I intended to use it as a first monitor and have the big glorious one handle the Lightroom split screen.
