A Nikon D750 vs. D500 question

Why is there so many used D750s, and a lot of 850s as well, available for resale and yet so few D500s listed. Did the Z series adversely impact the 750/850 market?

Nikon recently released the Nikon D780 and D6, that may be one reason there are a lot of used D750s and D850s on the market. The D500 is a DX camera, I believe the Z50 is Nikon’s only DX mirrorless.

Troll much? Are are you a camera sales person or a photographer?
The D500 is a professional piece of kit... the others you listed are prosumer products...

Here is what Nikon cameras REAL photographers are currently using...

If this is the current level of your photographic expertise moosus maybe rethink photography as a vocation...

There are a number of D500s for sale on ebay. The pricing is staying fairly firm above $1,000 plus. I know, because I would pick up a second one for the right price. The D500 is regarded by some as the best wildlife camera out there, so no surprise that supply might be limited.

Thanks for the answer. I can't believe the meanness of Thomas 902. It was a general question I've wondered about for a while. But I've seen snark and hate here a lot.

When you have confidence, you can have a lot of fun. And when you have a mirrorless camera, you can do amazing things.

Crop vs full frame.
So far the Z series does not have a crop camera like the D500 where the D750/D850 have got better mirrorless options in full frame.
Let's see what happens when there is a Z crop equivalent to the D500 seeing as it (the D500) is getting pretty old like the D850.
That is my guess at least.

There have been a number of simple minded trolls lately asking questions similar to yours.about Nikon and/or pushing mirrorless over DSLR. It’s easy to tire of such silly nonsense.

Jeeze Thomas! That was a bit harsh don't you think? It wasn't an out of bounds question for this forum.

All I can say is, I never thought the question would be interpreted as a trollism. I just wondered about the scarcity of used D500s. That's all. The Z part entered my mind as I was typing the question.

Your question was totally appropriate. Too bad you got a snarky response right out of the gate!

Since I’d like to upgrade, too, I am following this thread to see what advice is forthcoming. I am thinking D500, but am considering other options, too. Not sure if going mirrorless is for me, though. And, cost is an issue, too.

If you want to be a better photographer, buy a mirrorless camera.
