Looking to purchase a ball head for my tripod, for use with my D750 and relatively heavy telephoto and zoom lenses. Have read multiple reviews online and they left me no closer to an answer. Any suggestions or success stories out here? Thanks in advance.

Check out Pro Media Gear. I use their uniquely designed ball head. Easy to use, very stable and craftsmanship is unrivaled. Best of luck.

Awesome flash. I’ve retired my tired Bowens monolights and gone to Godox/Flashpoint. A lot of times I’m not near an outlet anyway at events I shoot.
Good luck selling!

Thanks. I have 3 other smaller Flashpoints and just don’t need this much firepower.

I'm looking for a group photography tour to those places, not wanting to wander around alone out there. I have been, and continue to search for such tours, and I have found few. So I wonder if any of this illustrious group have any pointers. I find plenty of tours to Bryce, Zion, Canyonlands, Arches and the Grand Canyon, but that's not what I want.
I have the growing impression that either Capitol Reef or the Grand Staircase may be just one day trips. Am I correct in that impression?
I hope to get there this late summer or fall, but this may have to wait until next year. But any advice is welcome.
Thanks.

Suggest you contact David Swindler at Action Photo Tours in Kanab, UT. He was the local resource used when I went with PhotoPills on an 11 day tour earlier this year of the Southwest. He has extensive knowledge of the area and the resources to get you where you want to go and a resource I would not hesitate to use again.

Hello gentle people:

I am thinking of buying a travel tripod that can serve as my one & only tripod. I want to be able to do macro as well as Astro photography with this tripod. I will use it with my Canon R6 with couple of telephoto lenses. I want to stay less than 4lbs in weight and size must be small enough to fit in carry-on luggage. I am thinking about Manfrotto Befree GT XPRO Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod with 496 Center Ball Head. For the money I am planning to spend is this a good rig or would you recommend another alternative.

Wishing you the perfect shot :)
Thanks

I just saw I am in a direct path of the lunar eclipse. The path looks like it will take it south of our local pier on the Gulf of Mexico.

I have not let had success shooting these so asking for help. What lenses and settings to use.

I have a Nikon D 750, good in low light. I also have a Nikon D500. My f/2.8 lens is a 24-70, then I have 70-200 f/4, 85 f/.1.8, then the 200-500 f/5.6 and the 500 PF 5.6 and I have two tripods so I could do two cameras.

My wish list: large pink moon over pier ( probably several shots stacked)

rising moon going through the eclipse

And clear weather.

Attached is the location

Thanks

Last year the extended family (3 grandparents, 2 parents and 3 grandkids) toured Acadia, Mn. Actually went very well, so now I’m stuck planning a 3 park trip for next Spring. Since I haven’t been that far West before (NY) I could use some suggestions. Grandparents probably will not hike far while everyone else likes to hike.
1) is it feasible to visit all 3 parks in mid April? Is snow or cold a problem then?
2) allowing 2 days for travel, would 7 days be enough time to see some of the highlights? Obviously you could spend weeks touring them and a lifetime knowing them; but we have 7 days.
3) are there any motels etc that you would recommend staying at? We don’t like to rough it.
4) are there any guides or tours that you would recommend?
5) any websites/uTube videos, guide books and maps would you recommend?
6) I plan on bringing a Canon R5/6, 24-105, 16mm RF or 14mm Rokinion, and 70-200. Will that give me any glaring gaps in coverage? Not looking into doing wildlife photos.
That’s a lot of questions and I thank those of you who can provide suggestions for any of them.

I can address item #4. I was on a 11 day shoot in Utah about a month ago it was sponsored by PhotoPills and the local tour company was Action Photo Tours out of Kanab. Our guide was David Swindler who owns Action photo tours. I highly recommend both him and his company. Very organized and professional and very dedicated to customer service. I would use them again without hesitation.

Opportunity: In early fall, shoots in Utah, Northwest New Mexico and Southern Colorado

Current Inventory of wide angle lenes: Nikon (all lenes are Nikon) prime 20 1.8 & 24-70 2.8.

Primary Camera Body: d850

Anal: Am I anal regarding sharpness of lens? Yes, just returned a 24-120 4 as the images were too soft when compared to 24-70 & 70-200 2.8.

Lens Consideration: 14-24 2.8. My push back is the waste of money due to overlap of current inventory. Yes, I can pano, stack & HDR. I don’t use my 20 that much as my favorite on camera lens is the 24-70.

Cost: Cost of 14-24 is about $1,800 & 2 week rent is about $175 (never rented before) or about 10% of the cost.

Your thoughts are appreciated. If you have 14-24, do you use it that often? Is it worth the additional investment? Would you rent in this case? Thank you UHH, Cliff

I too used to shoot with a D 850 before going lighter with a Z7 ii. On the D 850 I loved my Sigma Art 14-24. Check out the reviews, most all rate it as sharper than the Nikon and at a significant cost savings. Currently use the Nikon Z 14-24 on the Z7 ii and am very impressed but for the price I should be. Cheers.

Not sure if there is such a thing, but I am looking for a portable hard drive I can download photos to with a small LED without having to be connected to a computer or phone. Any help will be appreciated.

Look at the RAV Power website for a device called a file hub. Allows transfer from a memory card to a hard drive without the need for a computer. I have one and it works. Don’t know if this is exactly what you are looking for but worth checking out.

I'm going to Europe for 3 wks in June and just had an idea to get a deck-of-card-size storage device instead of bringing my laptop. Any thoughts on convenience or headaches (need to buy a card reader or can I download from my camera, etc.) or is it better (safer) to just pack extra SD cards?

Try the RavPower site. They have a hub that allows transfer from your sd cards to a portable ssd. It is about the size of a deck of cards and self powered, only about $50 or so as I recall. I have one (actually two as I wanted one for backup in case the first ever failed). Great little device and really like RavPower products.

[quote=collins9000]I am selling my like new (less than 200 actuations) Nikon z6ii along with the ftz adapter. I am a little ocd and I bought two of these wonderful cameras . If you want just the camera or adapter I will separate. Camera for 1700 and ftz
adapter 150. There are many people on this site that have bought my items and know it is amazing condition. Like I said this is like new. I have the boxes.[/quote

Good question. Perhaps if I was better at post I would enjoy it more. But to get better like anything else requires practice. For now taking the photo is fun, post is work.

I would reverse the image so the subject starts on the left side of the frame and reduce some of the white area.
