Wow, I wish I could help, but being a fun shooter, I don’t have as wide an option. I can print color in b/w but the contrast sucks. I guess I could scan and change, but that is basically what you are doing.

What I understand, the chip will read R/B/G even in B/W mode, so just simply shoot it and convert later.

As a film camera shooter, and one with older gear, I can say I cringe and at the same time, would love to see what you come up with.

At least I don’t need a pack mule to carry my Bronicas.

I have bought most of my camera gear on eBay, including my 5x7 from a Florida Seller (I live in Utah), and my 210mm lens from a pawn shop selling on the Bay.

I have gone to Craigslist, looking “locally” for darkroom gear. I found an enlarger in Montana for a steal ($60 when selling on the Bay for $200 and new for $1200). As I truck driver, I pick-up loads fairly often near the seller, and was able to make a pick-up.

One place I have had great success buying gear, with complete faith, is KEH. Their service is great, and the evaluation on the gear is on the conservative side. My 4x5 monorail came from them as a “bargain” and I hand not found anything wrong with it. I have bought gear at higher ratings, and have been shooting with it with not regrets.

I bought one collection of film holders KEH was selling on eBay. Got 16 holders in various condition, for $55. In this included 2 8x10 holders in great shape. If I did not need them, I could resell and double my money.

Lovely reminders of the beauty in the Four Corners.

Living in a Salt Lake, I needed that reminder why I need to head south. So close yet...

Planning on moving to Spokane to be closer to Grandsons, I need to follow your tire tracks and start my “weekend” trips down.

Military families get overlooked all of the time. As a Navy Brat, I knew more what ship what Dad was on vs who Dad was in my early years, during Vietnam. At that time, WestPacs were 11 months long.

As a Navy retiree, I saw deployments shorten, and families still struggling with a parent being gone.

The media does not pay attention I believe largely because for over 40 years, the military has been voluntary. Granted, Homecomings get good reviews but not the issues of the separation, low pay and constant moves that makes raising kids in the military a challenge most people will never know.

That being said, media goes with what will bring in ratings. Think back at the week Micheal Jackson died. How much news did you hear outside the Pop world that week?

I bought a 210mm lens for my large format from an eBay listing from a pawn shop. Saved over 1/2 on cost.

Having driven drunk and stopped for shotsnon the way, if you plan to go a bit farther east, Monarch Pass is 11,300, on the Contentsl Divide and the area is beautiful.

Just east of Montpellier is the Black Canyon I fall the Gunnison. Also you have Cimmeron which is wouodnlooking at.

The slot canyon below the dam of Blue Mesa offers some nice opportunities, as Dow Blue Mesa itself.

Parkin has a ride road that leads to the small towns of Ohio City and Pitkin, with Sargents just at the western base of Monarch.

Unlike many who say get a new bag, I don’t have he money to drop $150 to replace a bag just because of sand. Granted, I shoot film gear from 35mm to 5x7, and not always in the cleanest of places.

Vacuum it out well, as you would your car. Sand is not invisible. If a tiny amount of sand causes such drastic harm, why would you take your gear out with the slightest wind?

Another good tour is in Kanab Utah. I did a tour to Peek-a-Boo canyon in March. A bit more for the tour than the standard Antalope Canyon tour, but less then their photo tour (which books quickly.

You can even get one of the tours that will take you to a couple of slot canyons.

I took a MF and a pinhole with no problems. Best part is no crowds. The only down side is you do not get the strong red rock coloring. Seeing how I was shooting Black and White, color was not an issue.
