I feel sorry for a friend who has been shopping for a used car for two years. Her CR-V has over 250,000 miles on it. She would like a Fit, but Honda doesn't import them anymore. She's been going back and for with different makes and models. She's found a couple of used Fits, but the dealers don' have good reputations. Wouldn't it be nice if we could feel safe buying new or used from a car dealer. In all my years, I've known only one really good car dealer, Irwin Motors in Laconia, NH.

I've sent her many links about the most reliable and least reliable cars, but if she sees one negative comment, that turns her off.

First: Nobody has ever said this old car is so wonderful I need to sell it to some stranger!
Second: Know you need another $1000 in your pocket for repairs, etc.
Yhat's why they're selling it!
We bought a 10yr old Toyota, cheap, from a relative. Two kids left a foot of compost in the back.
Only yearly "Zippy" oil changes were done. So: Changed all fluids, belts and filters. Iridium spark plugs.
Trip and tips at the car wash. Battery and alternator gone in a year, starter died in two more years.
Fart can delete, turbo muff instead. I'd say I got a deal. 12 years later chick is jealous- it runs and looks good.

There was a recent thread that transferred to this section that was created, showing a racy sample of what can be done. As I checked its origins (it was too good to be true) I found many like it.

The issue is that all the sample of really young girls, looking underage.

Since the creations are artificial, can they be subjected to the pedophile laws?

Ah, no. Not if they are not really real.
There was a SW program for auto age pro- and re- gression, for looking for missing people.
Is this the girl lost since 5, found at 15? 22?
Then the pron and politicos got hold of it. You could put a babyface on a woman, or trump on the wrong donkey end .The ruling pertained to the images, being derived from real photos of real people- without permission.
BUT! As of now, the AI constructs can be construed in the same categories cartoons are.
A somewhat recognizable caricature is still fair use. AND there has to be room for bad/mis judgements.
I have a 15yr old grand niece that looks to be in her early 20s.
And a daughter in law that passes for being 20 years younger,
Lawyers and money will sort it out.

Food must be really cheap in Israel.

I received an ad in the mail yesterday. On the envelope it said: "You can help feed and elderly Jewish widow in Israel for only 89 cents".

Biden should visit a grocery store in Israel to find out how they do it.

Nah ... We'll just ask ypur Lord trump.
Between the $2 gas, that magic healthcare package, and those massive trickled down rewards!

Seems there is a ceertain subset of folks who just like the "tacticool" look - so as ridiculous as it seems to me (and others perhaps) they view it as desirable.

In the world of firearms this kind of thing comes to mind...

The first, real reason for this is t0 slow down the decimation if wild life.
Instead of killing with a bang stick, you'd take it's picture.

It's a tool.
Know what you want and the specs for getting there.
These days I'm shooting still or maybe slow people, so:
Set ISO, Set aperture (for DoF) and Set aperture priority.
Manual Focus!
I almost always get the total results I wanted.
Little to no PP necessary.

We are paying attention to “added sugar” these days, and the amount of sugar added to most cereals is horrifying. Even cereals made with organic ingredients (implying healthy) can add tons of sugar. It is very hard to find a “no sugar added” cereal at our local store at any price.

There used to be "No Sugar Added" yogurt, but no more. I am diabetic- Ralph's doesn't have any peanut butter brand without some kind of sugar in the first three ingredients.

I booked a trip with a well known company for a trip to Africa. The trip cost was $3500 and the insurance was $500. I had to cancel the trip due to flight problems. The insurance was stated as cancel for any reason.
This was over a month ago and after dealing with the insurance company and all of their BS they sent me back to the tour company. They told me it would take 30 days to get a refund.
I called them this morning and they said they wouldn't refund my money and would issue me a credit for another trip. I told them that I'm 88 years of age and this was my last trip. I asked to speak to their legal department and was told that there was no one I could speak to. I told them that I would seek outside help.
My first step was to file a claim with my credit card company. I did this today.
My next step will be to contact the Boston Business and file a claim with them.
So beware what you are buying. Needless to say I will never book another trip with them. If you want the name of the company PM me.

A family bought a life insurance policy for their vacation- double indemnity for travel.
The father was scuba diving, and was hit by a drunk in a boat.
It took those trolls maybe 5 minutes to determine that if that dad's boat wasn't moving, then he wasn;t traveling.

What was before the Big Bang? If there was no space or time during that moment, how did everything suddenly appear out of nowhere in an instant?

The Big Bang did not emerge from nothing but from singularity that encompasses everything within a density such that it equals zero. We have not yet discovered the precise how, but we have observed the effects.
The observations of the Hubble and JWST have provided extensive data as to the early origins of the universe which continue to challenge what we think we know and thought we knew.

Actually, the current theory is that we're in a black hole.
That explains why the universe is expanding.

This is something that has been going on for years. On U-Tube, on the Amazon Prime, and frankly other locations. I tried to hear a movie's audio and it comes out as a wispier, or low volume, yet when there is a commercial (U-Tube) the audio blares. I know that for some reason the providers are doing this with purpose, that is apparent.

My question is, is there anything that can be done on a standard computer like a Dell computer to increase the volume beyond the volume knob on the speaker? I have actually doped out of a film because the audio is so low I simply cannot follow the dialogue, and this is on a paid site.

Music recordings are done at lower volume to prevent "clipping". You see those little meters on TV shows that show the recording, there;s a red zone you try to stay out of. It can only hold so much, increase the volume too much and you miss some of the highlights.
The advertisers are who pays the bills and bonuses. They turn the volume up, allegedly, to make sure you hear the ads whilst getting a drink or a snack.
My Roku TV has a setting to raise low sounds and limit loud ones.

how can they PREVENT you from buying aftermarket batteries... I use a d800e and just bought 2x Kastar batteries which work fine... I don't expect them to last as long, like all aftermarket junk.

I get Kastars for my Nikons. For the price discount it doesn't bother me to keep a few extra with me. Or sometimes lose/forget one. Never had a problem with using them.
What does bother me is I can't recharge in camera.
And that every single camera uses a different battery.
