I did just that last month, following the link in that article. Even though Microsoft stopped pushing people to upgrade long ago, apparently the free upgrade is still available. Like any such major upgrade, the process takes the better part of a day, but the computer is running fine with 10. Didn't lose any personal files either. I would warn that Windows 10 likes at least 8 GB of RAM memory where 7 was fine with 4 GB. Windows 10 will still work with less memory, but programs like Photoshop slow down quite a bit. Why would Microsoft keep advertising a free upgrade when people are willing to pay for it? But it can still be had for free as far as I know.
