Yes,I am having issues with updates again for 2018. I have searched for any solutions but I can’t seem to find anything.I started the updates @ 10:30 p.m. last night & when I got up this morning @ 7:30 a.m. it was stuck @ 30%. I had to shut it down & restart it with no new updates.I went to Microsoft web site & ran the trouble shooter that said there was nothing wrong.Did any of you have these issues & if so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
Marilyng

Unfortunately Marilyn, I can't help you because my machine updated with no problems what so ever. Hopefully there is a guru her who can assist. Good luck...

No big deal except that updates are useful to insure that virus definitions are up-to-date or unless the update addresses a bug you’re experiencing or adds a feature you want. Having said that, it is generally a good practice to keep the OS patched to the latest rev or something close to it. What build are you at? (You can find it in system info.)

Check your Microsoft windows update settings and it is best to not let your computer go to sleep while updating...

Good luck.

Does your machine meet the specs for the new stuff?
Do you have any anti-malware or anti-virus turned on that could be blocking part of the process? It used to be common that some of those programs had to turned off while updates took place. Many of them even had a built in app that could suspend them for a set time to allow updates.
I see someone mentioned "sleep mode" if sleep or hibernate are activated with too short an "inactive/idle time" they will shut the machine down before the updates are done.
Go to "PC Settings" - "System" - "Power and Sleep" - "Sleep" and if it is set for a short time change it to a longer time or "Never" - assuming this is a desktop or a laptop that is plugged in this will keep it going. Any energy saved on this setting will be so small as to not matter. You can also then set all your "house keeping" processes (anti-virus, anti-malware, defrag, backup etc etc) to run over night while you sleep and only turn the machine off nights nothing is scheduled.

It is updating now,so God only knows what will happen! It downloads to 100% without any issues,it’s when it closes & says configuring update for Windows 10 100% complete,do not turn off your computer but my God how long does that last? The little circle that goes round & round showing you it’s updating stops, this is my problem,I don’t know how long that will last!😱

I've never had any problems updating any Microsoft operating system - from when it was MS-DOS, through to the latest version of Windows 10. I know some don't like to, but I let it update automatically.

Thank u all for your replies but I guess there is no answer for me that will help with this update.I have let my pc update by itself but I really don’t think it should take 24hrs to do so! I would love to get a Mac but it is much to expensive for a retired nurse retirement!🤔
