In what other direction should they fire weapons? Peaceful protests?? Give me a break!
there's a big difference between firing tear gas to the ground, or in the air, instead we have video of police firing directly at someone - potentially lethal. and in most cases tear gas has been used against non-violent protests - which is why many cities are no banning it's use. (It's already banned by several intl treaties for use in war!!)
irrelevant and needlessly inflammatory - these are NOT i**********ns - they are peaceful protests (marred by a very small number of violent incidents) protected by the 1st amendment
always amazes me when those who fiercely defend the right to bear arms forget why it's called the SECOND amendment!
visit http://microstockgroup.com for extensive discussions of all aspects of stock photography - however, to make even a moderate income you need thousands of images and continual monthly uploads (you're swimming in a pool of hundreds of millions of images)
smugmug et al are great for making your own website, but even worse for actually bringing sales (after a lot of work, and monthly fees)
yet another approach (tho equally difficult to monetize) is http://FineArtAmerica.com

I live in Seattle and support our mayor & police chief's reactions - since the de-escalation of police violence, protests have been peaceful, requiring no tear gas! better to withdraw than assaulting & throwing non-violent people to the ground, firing weapons directly at them, using tear gas & pepper spray on peaceful crowds, kettling to provoke the crowd
spineless is failing to respond to repeated police assaults and murders - how can the cop who murdered Floyd have been on the force after more than a dozen previous assaults?

and all to often they can't even place the 'dangerous ' countries on a map - I lead hiking toursd to turkey and concerns about safety aree the most frequent questions I get -- some thinking turkey is next to Afghanistan! American knowledge of geography really is abysmal

,,,,,, As an example, OAT cancelled Turkey trips some years ago but recently reintroduced them when it became safe to go there.
that's a big over-reaction - there've been no threats to tourist safety - i''ve traveled there 4 times in last 3 yrs with no problems - even current Syria crisis involves Turkish troops going OVER the border to Syria, not the other way around
I've been involved w online photography for 25 years, and have had my own website during that time along with several other paid services - depending on what you want to do, and your experience with web site development, a wordpress blog using a photo 'theme' can set up quickly at no cost beyond a $5-$10 hosting fee on your own registered domain
with all the sites mentioned, you retain all rights, but security varies.
I'll be in Egypt for 10 days in march as a scouting trip before leading a group later 2020-21. - cairo/giza, 4 day nile cruise & aswan. I was there 25 years ago and have wanted to go back for some time. us state dept has it as level 2 - 'exercise caution' - same as major european cities!

Moving from the card is a bad idea.
If corruption occurs during the move, the originals on the card are gone.
Better to copy from the card, check the results (by doing any required editing), backing everything up, then deleting from the card (or reformatting the card).
as others have noted, the chance of corruption, unlike in politics, is next to zero.; there are things to worry about - this isn't one of them.

It's all a fairly moot point. If you download images to your computer and back them up to a couple of other devices, you can simply re-format (initialize) the card in the camera and move on to the next "assignment."
no need to reformat - when you move all images from the card, the entire card is once again available, unfragmented (and fragmentation on cards & computers is rarely a problem)

You're welcome.
Over some years, I worked for several lawyers involved representing plaintiffs in copyright cases, and cases involving right of publicity ('ROP') ROP is the law around which cases involving model releases (or lack thereof) revolve. Some of 'my' ROP cases are often cited as important precedent. ROP in California is codified in CA Civil Code Section 3344 and applies to the subject person after death as well. See the law at:

ROP is state law and varies state to state. Other states have largely copied the ROP laws of CA and/or NY.

you supported my case w the 1st sentence of that link -- " knowingly uses another's name, voice, signature, photograph, or likeness, in any manner, on or in products, merchandise, or goods, or for purposes of advertising or selling, or soliciting purchases of, products, merchandise, goods or services, without such person's prior consent," -- and a model release is prior consent if written properly
and I've worked in stock for decades where these questions are addressed daily (and the agencies with millions of sales weekly are extremely risk averse) - in general, 'editorial' images don't need a model release if the use is non-commercial - eg, newspapers, etc;
obviously that's not the case here
this whole thread may be based on a misunderstanding of the word 'hole'
when you delete files from a card, it leaves a LOGICAL hole in the data. future files may only partially fit in the hole, leading to file fragmentation (which is of no real concern anymore)
first, there's no reason to format after files are moved elsewhere - the card is effectively empty.
I dont bother to delete in camera, since I download every day and do a quick review to eliminate images with technical defects; much easier to do on computer than in camera, and in camera deletion still requires later edits
