I sent a high end flash to Nikon for repair. The batteries leaked (my fault). My unit came back in like new condition in a couple weeks. I wouldn’t hesitate to send them other items for repair so long as it’s makes financial sense. If I were you I’d jump on the chance to give my camera a second life. If you want to sell/trade it I would hope your receipt will include date and shutter count.

Great to hear from you. If you are interested in finding old friends, One of the guys has set up a 34th IPSD web site if you haven’t see it, and of course the Vietnam Dog Handler Association has been around for a while. Welcome home.

I always have a problem selecting the correct exposure when transitioning to arial shots. I use manual mode for this. I usually do a test shot in a shady spot on the ground, but have had limited results. Any suggestions?

I suffered most of my life with limited motion and pain. I finically got my left shoulder replaced and have way more range of motion and strength. Work hard during your physical therapy (NO whining!) and you will be amazed how quickly you recover.

Here in Florida when I scramble to get the camera outside (from the AC) my lens frosts over and I’m dead in the water for about 15 minutes.

Nudies are great for landscape but my wife won’t let me shoot her in RAW and doesn’t allow stand-ins.

Be sure to go to the Top of the Rock Restaurant. It’s about a 30 minute drive but great scenery before and after sunset. There is a stunning golf course and lots more. Photo was off an earlier iPhone. In Springfield, an hour or two drive, the Bass Pro has (I think) it’s biggest store. Front has to be at leas 1/4 mile if not longer. Has huge aquariums, stuffed animals and an awesome buffet lunch. Well worth the drive.

First: for those that misunderstood “mom” I am 70 years old and call my sweaty mom. And she will be tickled to death to be turned loose with the slots unencumbered.

Secondly: that light pollution map is awesome. I got a couple recommended sites, checked the map and found what hopefully will be a productive shooting site.

Thank all y’all for your comments and suggestions!!

We’re going to Las Vegas in a few weeks. I like sunsets and night shooting. I was thing about going to Red Rock Canyon if mom will let me off the leash one evening. Is there anyone out there that can let me know if LV’s lights will kill my starry photos. Maybe another location reasonably close?

I flew out of Dover heading to Vietnam with my scout dog Cap in a C-141. Also onboard with us were 13 empty aluminum coffins to be filled and returned. I believe all combat deaths are still processed there. Truly hallowed ground. Thank you for sharing the happy side.
