[quote=TriX]Sounds like a nice machine, and always best to think of the future considering SW is constantly evolving to utilize more HW resources. I just built a very similar machine, but only a 12700K I-7, all m.2 NVME SSD and the 3060 12GB graphics card but 64GB of DDR4 memory (since I had it on hand). Although I can overclock the memory and CPU, I’m just running the CPU and the 3600MB/sec memory at base speed - it’s so fast that not currently needed. Since the memory was free and I had the case and monitor, the whole system using Samsung 980 Pro SSD, Asus MB, CPU, cooler, graphics card and a new PS just cost about 1.3K$. If I had to buy the memory and case, it would have been just north of 1.5K$.

You are very lucky, In Australia you would be looking at over $3000 - about US$2200, if you could get all the parts!
The processor is about $700 but a full Mac Mini is only $999 (including Operating system and many programs) which would do the same job.
Fact of life in Australia we pay top dollar for anything imported since the governments discouraged any manufacturing locally (they are now reconsidering that decision given China's hostility).
We do give away lots of natural resources at bargain prices to China but that is not noticed by the Chinese.

[quote=TriX]Three issues to be aware of:

1) for identical performance and resources, the Mac will cost substantially more.

This is just not true. The cheapest Mac Mini M2 with no extras will easily out perform a i7 or lower i9 and costs less than $1000 even with Australia's inflated prices. If you need an extra spend it on an extra memory module. An external Thunderbolt 2 TB drive (not hard disk but M.2) is almost as fast as the internal drive and will cost just a little more than the extra 256GB from Apple can be added as you require it. You can use your existing Display but a 4K display is available quite cheaply.
I use a Mini with M1 processor and it is at least twice as fast in Affinity than my i9 system from 3 years ago and it only cost half the money.
Just recently bought a Mac Studio and that really screams.

Just ask around your friends you will probably find a few of the who will let you 'have a play'.

I like that shot well balanced with the feed silo on the right. I tried flipping it so tank was on the left and it did not look a good!

Very old by the look of it. Interesting roof line only seen that a few times where there was rain water tank feed from the, centre of the gutter they were all in areas where there is no mains water available.

Nikon D7500 vs Nikon D7200
Well, here it is, and view the link below. This way you can decide what works best for you.

Main reason to prefer the D7200 (for me) was it has 2 SD Card slots. I used a 64Gb for raw and a 16GB for jpg.
Also consider a D3400, cheap, robust and the P series lenses are a reasonable price with good quality results. This is now my backup camera.
Made a mistake and got a Canon RP outfit, results nor much better than the D3400 and it is slow to use and only has one card slot the same as the D3400.

Isn't this plane the old "Comet" which was long ago withdrawn from service. (Too many crashes and problems)

No the Comet was by De Haviland, This was by Vickers and a feature was it was quite to travel in due to rear mounted engines.

Comet problems were caused by not understanding metal fatigue in Aluminium, the result was Boeing used the discovery to corner the market with the 707. Mark 4 Comets proved very reliable and flew millions of kilometres without incident (some bird strikes in Africa excepted).

If you are using a Windows PC...

Faststone Photo Resizer can be set up to copy your image file name into a "watermark" it puts in the image.

Be careful to NOT do this to your original files... only to copies! You might need to size them smaller, too, which is the original purpose of Photo Resizer. But it's able to do a lot of things and does them as a batch.

Being FREE, Faststone doesn't come with instructions. But it's pretty intuitive to use. In one panel you look at a list of the files in a folder and can highlight the ones you want the software to "process". It can do one file or a thousand files. However many you select, it will batch process pretty rapidly. I used to use it to put watermarks on images (not file names, but a specific watermark I'd created in other software). Worked great for that, but once Adobe put a similar feature in Lightroom I no longer needed to do the separate step in Faststone. But I keep it installed for other possible uses.

https://www.faststone.org/FSResizerDetail.htm

P.S. Lightroom can do this too, by the way. If you have it installed.
If you are using a Windows PC... br br Faststone ... (show quote)

I use it all the time and like it so much I sent a donation.
The Tools tab includes 'batch convert selected images'. Select you images then open batch convert selected images.
You will get a few options, select Advanced Option and Text.
You can place the text (this is mine 'Copyright Martin Coull - ($C2) - ($D1)' ) there are plenty of options just download and try.

There a quite a few alternatives to consider. Topaz, ON1, Luminar NEO, Affinity Photo are a few of the packages you buy for a one-time cost. The free alternatives include the GIMP, darktable, and lightzone. Each of these has its own strengths and weaknesses, and each has a learning curve. I think your best bet is to try the free trial version of each to see which you prefer.

That's what I did. Photoshop is Not really for photographers and has not been for years.
Ask yourself "When did I last use 90% of its features?".
With me it was Photoshop 7 and that must be almost 20 years ago before I had a digital or a good Scanner.
I went though about 8 software packages until I settled on Affinity partly because it is good for Mac and PC.
The sorting / assessing I do mainly on Lyn on the Mac and very occasionally on Faststone on the PC. Firestone is free but I donate once every few years as it is so useful!.
Shortly the PC will die so I will then only use one of my Macs. The 2006 Mac Pro has decided it will not die so is used as a third line backup to my Mac Studio and my home built NAS running TrueNas.

There are many replacements for Photoshop/Lightroom and a lot are far faster to use and not graphic art designer orientated. Just try them and pick what suits your needs. In trying a few it will give you a wider perspective of what you can use effectively.

I started using Adobe Photoshop with Version 5 - I think it was 25 years ago, luckily still have a copy BUT where do I get an Intel 286 computer to use it? It has to have the highres 1024 x 768 monitor!

I donated some of my old cameras to a local camera-shop who has a window of old equipment in an arcade nest to the shop. Gets quite a lot of foot traffic and they claim people who come in and say 'I had one of those back in 1950/60/70/80 or later. A prewar Voightlander 120 I gave them was sold to a collector for over $300 and they gave me $250 credit. Not bad for a camera with holes in the bellows!
