The Camera is a tool and in the right hands it can produce amazing things. I had a photographer friend years ago who had worked as an Air Force photographer for 20 plus years then small town college photographer. He said time and time again the user is the biggest force in how good a picture. The simpliest camera in the right hands can produce award winning photos. I have to agree with him.

It was announced earlier this week, a local St. Louis favorite camera store, Creve Coeur Camera is closing after 40 years in the area. This leaves one camera store in St. Louis, Schillers. The area had several stores over the years, St Louis Photo, City Photo Stockhouse to name a couple. Now only one, this is a blow.

thanks for all the replies. The owner has said he cannot compete with Online dealers and phones. I was in there today and was told they will keep doing classes, just not at the location of the last store. Where the new location will be is unknown. They appear to have been major supporters of the International Photography Museum which recently moved into the St. Louis area to a permanent home. Still sad to see them go.

I was wondering. I have shot with a Nikon FE and like the results. What Nikon DSLR is most like the FE? Or does it really matter?

That makes it an awesome story. How to get away and stay in the same place to just watch the world go by.

I have the 18-140 and love it.

Thank you very much for the replies. I should have left out the birding part as this is not really intended for that. Just as a walk around lens. My camera is a DX so that was the reason for asking. For those who say get an FX, yes I want to just right now what I want is out-of-reach.

I have a D3300 and hopes to change that but in the mean time looking for walk-around type lens. Looking for a walk around lens with some reach when I want it.

Looking for feedback on a lens:

Nikon Nikkor 18-140mm F/3.5-5.6 G DX AF-S VR Autofocus

Considering this for purchase. I mostly do birds and family so I want to good all around lens and this seems to fit. If anyone uses it. Please post likes and dislikes. Thanks

What I see is a dark horse galloping. And to the left is possibly another, jumping the fence into the field. Or it's nothing at all. Just curious, not crazy.

I see two horses also. I see what may be a carriage but looks like cannon carriage. Something that held munitions for cannons of the day. It is just very thin.

I would add Fort Osage to the East of KC. Out Hwy 24. Has some history from Lewis & Clark. I am assuming it is still open and operating.
