I have not tried them. But I have seen some of their work. My understanding is that if you have an ICC color-managed workflow (i.e.; you do your own post-processing on a custom-calibrated, custom-profiled monitor made for photography and the graphic arts), you can get great results. Don't just order off the web site, though. Call them and talk to a technical customer service rep and get their best tips for quality reproduction. Also get their ICC proofing profile if they have one.

burkphoto,
Wow!! I like their website a lot, as it quickly shows the frames, and finishes with a light as well as the mounting they use. That is super helpful! Thanks for taking the time to share a link as well

Strong recommendation for Bay Photo. Outstanding results, fabulous customer service. I use them regularly and opt for the standard gloss finish with square corners and standard mounting blocks on rear which allows you to easily “float” the print on a wall. I’ve tried several other finishes, but standard glossy the way to go. The idea of metal prints is to POP the colors and glossy is so much more impressive.

They will also do custom sizes.

I’ve used Costco and while results pretty good, I returned to Bay for best quality. I would be leery of CVS. CVS can’t produce a decent paper print. Cannot imagine being happy with metal. If I need aspirin, I go to cvs. If I want photos, I go to photo specialist. (Walgreens, by the way - same thing).

Rick from NY,
The standard mounting blocks must have been for a photo print as I don't see that as an option for metal print.

Thanks for your input as it helps clarify my directions to go

I’ve had great results with BayPhoto. They come in different finishes. Please be aware that high glossy finishes tend to come out a little more contrasty and darker.

Someone else suggested to have a small version done first. Good advice.

Fredrick, You're the first to mention about the high glossy finish printing contrasty and darker. A couple of vehicles pictures were taken at night. I definitely will have a small print made prior to ordering the larger one!!!
Thanks!

I have only had one metal print made. I used Bay Photo and it was very good. I think my first order came with a 10% discount.

Do you know what type of finish you have? If its glossy, is it hard to see if a window is nearby?
Thanks!!

Another vote for Aluminyze. I've had a half dozen prints made. All were excellent. I prefer the satin finish as opposed to glossy.

Bay Photo
Send them an image and request a sample pack - 6 different finishes of the same photo. 5x7 is a reasonable size, and very reasonably priced.

When I spoke to Bay Photo he suggested and 8 x10 but it would be better for me to see all the finishes and to make sure the colors are true.
Thank you,
Chris

Are you aware of Fine Art America? Yes, it's a website for selling artwork, but it's also a place where one can upload an image for printing. They do very nice metal prints. And their backing system is wood, not plastic, so it's easy to attach a wire very securely. They are a bit more expensive than Costco, but I believe less than Bay Photo.

Thank you for the Information. Another place to check out.

Another vote for Bay Photo metal prints. I have a gallery of their metal prints in various sizes. The colors are always vibrant and accurate. Yes, I have used other labs but Bay Photo seems to be best imho.

Bay is in the running for one of my favorites. I called and spoke to someone and it sounds like they will work with me on making sure the colors are true.

I ordered a bunch of prints from Black River and they were too magenta. Had to send pictures of original prints next to their prints.
They redid them all.
In all fairness, this was over 5 years ago or so.

Professional labs. I recommend White House Custom Color or Black River Imaging (a division of Bay Photo that, unlike Bay, doesn't add shipping costs to your order). Black River presently has a 20% off sale going, ends 12/28/2022.

Black River Imagaing is one I will look into as well. I looked into Bay but to have 8- 30"x20" shipped is pretty costly. And I understand its a lot of weight so I get it but if I can keep the expense down it definitely helps

I don’t believe I’ve actually ordered anything from Bay but I know some of the management and have seen their work up close and personal at WPPI and it looks very exceptional.
I used Die Hard Printing and liked their work.
Personally, gloss white is almost the surface I exclusively used when I printed metal. Sometimes a clear gloss. Tried Matt surface but it’s too dull looking for me.

Coolhandluke, Thanks for the additional information! I have not seen a metal print but like the idea for the winners of each class since they're all vehicles (Truck and Tractor pulling vehicles).

I have had excellent results with Printique (an Adorama company). They make 20x30 metal prints. Good customer service, high quality prints, quick turnaround, fair prices (often you can score 10-30% off with periodic promotions.)

Thank you for letting me know! Ill check them out!
