The squeeze bulb would be the first step. Maybe follow that with a very soft and clean brush. If that doesn't work, go to your retailer. Absolutely no chemicals. (Shudder)

Probably a speck of something on the sensor. You'll want to be very careful in cleaning that.

I find that repeating a complaint about repetition to be just a bit ironic.

Do a quick web search for Unerase. There are a number of file recovery programs available.

Good luck.

The only cap I ever lost was on a pier in Catalina. The glue on the tether gave out as I leaned over the rail for a shot. Just my luck.

Teleconverter? A 2X could get you out to 500, just losing a couple of f-stops.

For years I have set my camera to store RAW + Jpeg. For a long time it was Raw + Jpeg Large, then I changed to RAW + Jpeg Small. Now I'm wondering if I even need to be saving jpeg in the camera at all. I only process from RAW.

This would save on storage space and probably help the shooting speed when shooting long strings of sports action pics.

Thoughts?

Just one thought on your original question.

Shoot sports shots in JPEG only. While you lose the flexibility of RAW, you will gain shots. The camera will bog down writing the RAW files to the card, shortening the length of your photo "string".

Otherwise RAW is the best choice.

Buy an inexpensive light timer and set it for the hours you want it to operate. Then you won't be like me and forget to plug it back in.

I have an old DLP HDTV (about 61 inch) that I bought in the fall of 2005. It's served me well and I'm second lamp. Now I'm reading about 4K UHD. I own a Sony A99II that is touted as having 4K video capability, but have not bothered to use it yet. (I'm really not into video.) I do all my image processing on my trusty old MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013) screen and it looks good to me. I'm thinking of replacing my 2005 HDTV because I moved to a new house and sometimes the bright light from big widows washes out the image on the screen. Maybe a newer brighter TV will help? It there currently any 4K UHD content to watch?

I know that currently my photos look better on my Retina computer screen than they do on my current TV. Will my camera images look better if I buy a 4K UHD TV?

My son tells me that he loves his 3D HDTV with active glasses. I see that last years Sony 4K UHD models include a 3D model but cost about twice as much as this years models that do not include 3D, with the same sized 65 inch screen.

Do you have any advice? So much to learn!

Thanks for reading.

Dave,
I bought a new Samsung about a year ago, to replace and old rear-projection HDTV I had had for probably 12 to 15 years. The Samsung incorporated some sort of coating, to reduce reflections, that worked wonders.

As for content, I use Netflix, they have quite a bit. Amazon Prime Video also has some, but I haven't yet figured out how to access it. I don't believe anyone is broadcasting UHD over the air, but some cable and satellite providers do, if you have the right box at home.

You can also download some content to a flash drive, and play through the USB port. Or, buy a 4K blu-ray player for somewhere around $400.

Also, some TVs are listed as "Monitors". No tuner, so you must have cable of some sort.

Good luck on your purchase.

Passing laws against this kind of abuse is a waste of time and effort. These calls are from con artists and hackers mostly overseas using the internet to access VOIP servers, and spoofing the servers into using whatever numbers they want to show up on your phone. Passing laws in the US will not affect calls from India, Africa or Russia, even if they had the slightest inclination to obey laws in their own countries.
Just another way in which abuse of technology out races legitimate uses.

Find a busy indoor area, such as an airport, theater or bus station, where you can position your camera up high. Use a ND filter for a really long exposure. The people moving around will ghost out and leave even the busiest location looking almost empty.

Some thoughts...
A 1G drive should be plenty of space for a month long trip.
You will want a secondary backup, so an external drive is a must have.
Cloud storage is wonderful, but unless you have a fantastic connection, it's slow. If I go a little overboard, it takes more than two days to upload one day shooting on my home connection. (1.5 mbs upload.)
Having multiple memory cards is a great idea, but an external HD will probably be cheaper than several SD or CF cards.
Have a safe and enjoyable trip.
Dan
