I did a lot of research for the same trip a couple of years ago (unfortunately cancelled due to COVID-19) and what I settled on is this:. The 24-105 for nearly everything and something oh the 18-20mm f1.4 to F1.8 range for indoors shots on low light and tight spaces. My understanding is that many if the indoor sights are small and tight and dark, thus the fast, wide prime.

I have and use the version 2 and as mentioned above, use it regularly with my FF Sony and 24-105 or similar size lens. I did order the longer screws as most of my shoulder straps are fairly thick.

One thing I think needs to be considered when taking about AF more these days than in the past is that it's all become to complex for simple phrases to convey. There is initial acquisition, generic tracking, eye tracking for different types of subjects, low light acquisition, low light tracking, nuances of where the AF initiates then is able to follow the subject around the frame, how sucky the tracking is on front of different backgrounds, ability to select desired AF areas, ability of AF to continue to drive the lens front frame to frame during high speed shooting, etc. As far as I have read and experienced, no camera is simply the best of all anymore.

I was at both of those locations in March of this year. I took quite a few lenses, but the ones I used almost exclusively were the 24-105 and 100-400. I used the 24-105 for everything general and the 100-400 for surf, whales and birds. When I got back home I immediately purchased the Tamron 35-150 because if I'd had it it would have allowed me to get some shots the I missed for not having the right lens on at the right time (primarily on boats and helicopters).

Make sure live view setting is on:
Live View Display
Sets whether or not to show images altered with effects of the exposure compensation, white balance, [Creative Style], or [Picture Effect] on the screen.

MENU → (Camera Settings2) → [Live View Display] → desired setting.
Menu item details
Setting Effect ON:
Displays Live View in conditions close to what your picture will look like as a result of applying all your settings. This setting is useful when you want to shoot pictures while checking the results of the shot on the Live View screen.
Setting Effect OFF:
Displays Live View without the effects of exposure compensation, white balance, [Creative Style], or [Picture Effect]. When this setting is used, you can easily check the image composition.
Live View is always displayed with the appropriate brightness even in [Manual Exposure] mode.
When [Setting Effect OFF] is selected, the icon is displayed on the Live View screen.

For me most brands and recent cameras seem to compete with relative equity for 95% of photographic subjects and situations, regardless of brand. As you approach the limits in any direction then some cameras gain an advantage over the rest. For example, if you want/need ultra-high resolution then only a few offer it (Fuji GFS, Sony a7Riv, etc.). If you want really fast frame rates with great autofocus then again you are relegated to a few bodies from limited manufacturers. There are other specialties which bring out specific bodies as well.

I like the 85 F1.4 on full frame personally. I find it versatile to take full body in most conditions except indoor as well as headshots at a more intimate distance. However, I understand that plenty prefer the 100 or the 135 and I very much like 135 when I'm taking head and upper body shots.

I like the idea of the 24-105, but I would add one more: either a 35 or 50mm prime that's f1.4 or f1.8 for shooting at night or inside in lower light (pick your favorite focal length). With the two lens setup it'll still be light and you won't change lenses often (only in certain buildings and at night).

The first question to answer is do you want to see lots or visit the same place to try to get the perfect weather/clouds, etc?

For me, if I had 5 days starting in Yarmouth I'd drive north up the west coast to
the Kentville/Wolfville area and stay a night there. It's about a 2.5hr drive (according to Google) so you'll have plenty of time to stop and look as you like. I'd also make a point to see the tidal swing in the Bay of Fundi (some 45 plus feet).

I'd then head southeast and pick up Peggy's Cove en route to Halifax and stay a night or two in Halifax (you can do Halifax on the way up or the way back). I'd work very hard to get to Peggy's Cove at a time any tour buses won't be there (I was there by myself on a couple of occasions later in the evening).

From Halifax I'd head north to Cape Breton and the Cabot Trail and spend a day or so there.

From there I'd head back south towards Yarmouth staying wherever made the most sense.

Google says the entire trip is about 18 hours of driving which, over 5 days when I'm not having to push for every mile, doesn't seem too bad, especially if you want to get a general overview of the place.

I agree with several suggestions: something in the card workflow (card, card reader, etc.)

I've done a fair number of cruises and I like the Z6ii and 24-70f2.8. I used that lens and a 35 or 55 f1.8 prime (for indoors mostly).

I like buying used engineering spec Lenovo laptops. They are designed to be punished, have the hardware to properly support the i7 processor and Nvidia graphics card and are very expandable. If I were looking now I'd be looking at a P51 or newer. I run a P51 and my graphics artist daughter runs a PRO. She also used a W520 (a predecessor to the PRO series) from 2011 which kept up Photoshop, the rest of the Creative Suite and Autodesk Maya. I buy them used on eBay.

I think one thing we all can get caught up in these days is comparison paralysis. Most lenses made these days are excellent when you look at the whole picture. However, when we start comparing to other lenses and other manufacturers lenses side by side differences begin to be visible. However, most of these differences are only visible in comparison when looking at the two lenses side by side.

My camera links to my phone to pick up the GPS coordinates. I always have my phone with me and a charger if I'm afraid of running out of battery. I also find that it really doesn't have a negative effect on the battery on the phone so it works pretty well. I have had several cameras that had built in GPS, but I found it took them longer to get lock in after turning on and it used more battery.
