I use a 2015 iMac 27" and a 2017 13" MacBook Pro. I use the 13" when traveling and when sitting in my recliner. Great when culling and on the internet. I delete 90% of my RAW shots, do renaming and minor adjustments with the laptop. All serious edits are done with the iMac. I'm excited to upgrade to the M1 27" iMac and then an M1 MacBook Pro, but will be waiting for 6 months to a year after the iMac M1 is introduced. I'll let the early buyers fish out bugs and troublesome issues before I buy.

I have Wolverine 8mm Super 8 scanner also. Does a very good job. Look into them at BnH Photo. If scanning services get too expensive it's a great option.

GAIA GPS and All Trails hiking apps allow uploads of route GPS data to Google Earth. Compare the time your photo was taken to the GPS location data recorded at the same time. I do this with my Garmin device frequently because the GPS setting burns up my cameras battery life too fast.

If the info on your card is important you can get a card reader from Amazon for under $10. It may not work but a cheap try.

I mentioned Dan Margulis's book "Photoshop LAB Color". In it he also points out that as people age, their corneas get yellower and lose perception in certain shades. Also, many drugs, Viagra being a notorious example, affect color perception.

I'm a color blind shooter myself. Dan Margulis, a member of the Photoshop Hall of Fame, in his book “Photoshop LAB Color” says about the color blind, “They appear to respond to blues at least as well as the rest of us do. Is it possible that they actually see it better? Can the color blind be picking up a distinction that’s too subtle for the rest of us? We can see colors that aren’t even on their map, but is it not possible that the converse may also be true - that the green they see is simply a color that’s out of our gamut?” Dan has taught color-blind students in his color correction classes and they perform as well as the other students. Calling other people blind is a frustrated reaction to what everybody knows: we all see color differently and therefore we all have different, sometimes radically different, ideas of what looks good.

Dans book "Professional Photoshop - The Classic Guide to Color Correction pub2002 and Photoshop LAB Color pub2006 are well worth searching for. He begins his chapters with many examples and ends each with technical explanations.

Try the 30 day free trial of Photoshop and Lightroom. With your knowledge of PS Elements it should be easy to see if the change would be worth it.

With all of the construction on Treasure Island there has been a 10' high cyclone fence keeping people off the walking path and obscuring the view. Do you know if the fence is still up? IF so can you suggest another location on the island to photograph San Francisco's water front? I'll be driving down there from Seattle in two weeks. Thanks.

If you have any interest in a photo workshop in the Pacific Northwest look up Randal J. Hodges. He is an "in-camera" shooter. You will shot the best locations and he takes the time to show each participant how to use their camera. At each location he sets up, explains each step he takes to get the best shot, then he goes to each shooter in turn, helps them setup and answers all questions. When the workshop is over you will know how to use your camera.

I have a Canon Pixma TS9020. It's a printer and a scanner and will print on CD/DVD's. I've used similar printers from the competitors but this one does the best color prints by far. 4x6 through 8x10 and letter size. The negative is the ink cost, but it's an industry norm. My experience with 3rd party inks is not good. So I do the occasional print at home, large jobs at COSTCO or Wal-Mart and hangable prints on line. Good luck with your search.

Google "Randall J. Hodges Photographer" lessons. He has an Oregon Coast Class and it's description will give you the most common and best locations. I took his class a year ago. We spent 10 days and shot from Cannon Beach to the Redwood forests in Northern California. My favorite place was sunset on the beach at Bandon, OR. The sea stacks and Face Rock are amazing at sunset. I took this photo last week.
