At school lunch time, we would go around the neighborhood and collect coke bottles. The lady with the food stand near the school would allow us to trade bottles for small packages of cool aid, which we would eat.

Got all 25. And the additional ones posted. On Saturdays, I could take my girlfriend to a double bill movie, with coke and popcorn for $1.00. I also remember starters on the floor and running boards.

After the slow Peugeot 504 diesel, I got into older model BMW 528e's. They were wonderful cars. Great handling, good performance, comfortable interiors. But they were all money pits... expensive parts, always needed something. So I would fix them up to sell and fall in love with them again. And I had two BMW 325iC's (convertibles). Even worse money pits, but absolutely delightful when they were working.

So I would fix them up to sell and fall in love with them again.

I had a buddy who had a 504 station wagon Diesel which was his wife's car.....was called "the Streak" .....this car was the slowest accelerating thing I had ever seen.....but it always started and ran ! lol

My last Peugeot 504 was a diesel. It was slow for sure, but faster than the 32 horsepower VW beetles I drove in the 60's. It is actually fun to drive flat out much the time, but an agony if you want to drive from the Bay Area to Lake Tahoe over the Sierra Nevada. We would be passed by trucks.

Early 80's BMW 528e's were hot tickets. I owned 3 of them. They were wonderful cars, with acceleration superior to the higher RPM 528's up to 100 mph or so, and more economical of fuel. But, with high mileage they were money pits. Parts and service were expensive, and they had rubber cam belts instead of chains. All of mine burned oil at a quart every 900 miles or so. And all of the auto transmissions had serious problems at around 120,000 miles.

My Peugeot 504's of which I owned around 6 from 1969 through 1978 never caused me a problem that I could not fix easily myself, and were superior in practicality, ride and economy. And they were fast enough,if you were not climbing a 10% grade for miles.

Worst car was a 1976 BMW 2002 I bought with only 40,000 miles on it. It had been stored outside for a year, but looked like new, inside and out. Apparently the rings had rusted, because it used a quart of oil every 600 miles. It over heated driving from Lake Tahoe over the pass. Had to leave it in a small mountain town garage and take the bus back to Oakland. Went back and got it, and it broke down again 40 miles from home. Had it towed home. After getting it running again, it blew the hydraulic line in the transmission. Then the brakes faded on a long downhill due to a dragging disc. It finally ran well enough for a dealer to accept as a trade in. I definitely got my money's worth from free towing from AAA.

Check sources like Amazon. My D7100 came with a 350 page manual but I have since purchased 2 books and a DVD on that particular camera. And I find the books better than the manual that came with the camera. I would particularly recommend field guides by David Busch. There are many to choose from.

The camera specific books by David Busch are far superior to the manuals. He not only explains how things work, but why.
