Apparently Nikon no longer includes an Owner's Manual with their new cameras (confirmed with Nikon). Its available in a PDF file off of the interent, but there can be hundreds of pages.

Does anyone know of a source from which you can purchase a printed copy?

I have one for my camera purchased years ago, and I can't tell you how many times I go back to it for operational information.

Check sources like Amazon. My D7100 came with a 350 page manual but I have since purchased 2 books and a DVD on that particular camera. And I find the books better than the manual that came with the camera. I would particularly recommend field guides by David Busch. There are many to choose from.

I'm just guessing here, but I think it depends on the model camera. I have paper manuals for my D7100 and D610.

There are services that will give you a printed copy, and I'm sure someone will post a link. If you have a tablet or smartphone, get Nikon's free Manual app. It lets you download any of their manuals. It can be a handy reference when you're away from home.

One thing I really like about having the manual on the computer is being able to do a fast search for the term I want.

I am fully aware of the various "books" that are available. What I am looking for is Nikon's own Owner's Manual.

Jerry: I'm surprised you have them. When I noticed they were not listed in "whats in a box" I called Nikon and was told in order to save trees, they are now only available on the internet.

I appreciate the source you referenced. Thanks.

Thanks for the info - Well, I guess Nikon can't get straight with their answers, as they had told me they no longer include with their new cameras.

If it didn't come with the camera, chances are the only Nikon's own manual is the PDF. You might print the pages most useful to you as a reference & have them spiral bound into a booklet. Staples, for one, provides this service.

What camera did you buy? I just bought a D810 and it came with 2 manuals, different languages. Doesn't look like Nikon is trying to save trees.

Jerry, I searched the App Store for the Nikon app. When I found it, it said "Open". I had it on my pad and didn't even know it. I wonder what else I have on here that I've forgot about.

Sure. Nikon wants to save tree$$$$. :D

It must save them a fortune, considering the difference between a manual online and one that must be printed by the thousands, delivered, and handles all along the way.

Earlier this year I bought both a D5300 and a D810. They both came with owner's manuals. It may be that they no longer include owner's manuals with cameras that fall below a certain price point.
